PROLOGUE
As I stepped off the bus and onto the hot pavement, I knew that this summer was going to be different. The sun was shining brightly in the sky, and the only sound that could be heard was the crashing of waves on the shore. The air was filled with a sense of excitement and possibility, hinting at the adventures that lay ahead. I had always looked forward to my family's annual beach vacation because this sleepy seaside town was my escape from my troubles, my chance to clear my head and figure out who I was and what I wanted out of life.
You see, I had recently come to the realization that I was gay. It wasn't something that I had ever expected, and I certainly wasn't ready to tell my family or my friends. But as I stood on the beach, feeling the sun on my face and the sand between my toes, I knew that this summer was going to be a turning point for me.
And then, as if by fate, I saw him for the first time. He was a tall, handsome boy with shaggy brown hair and bright blue eyes, laughing with his friends and tossing a frisbee around. Completely unaware of the fact that I was staring at him, I couldn't help but feel drawn to him. There was something about his confidence, his outgoing personality, and his zest for life that captivated me.
From that moment on, everything changed. As we spent more time together on the beach, I found myself falling deeper and deeper for him. But with my secret weighing on me, I wasn't sure if I was ready to open up to him about my true feelings.
As the summer progressed, we explored the town together, went on adventures, and grew closer with each passing day. But when the end of the summer approached, I knew that I had a decision to make. Would I come out to him and risk our friendship, or keep my feelings hidden and wonder what could have been? The answer was unclear, but one thing was for sure - this summer had changed me in ways that I could have never imagined.
