The new Guy
Jamie just started a new job. He’s been looking forward to some changes in his life. His long-term relationship has been going through a difficult and confusing slump over the last few years. He doesn’t know what will happen to it but for now, a fast-paced, high-pressure challenging work life is what he’s looking for, hoping it could distract him from his personal problem which he has yet to find a solution to.
On his first day, Jamie was introduced to the team he’ll be working with on the company’s big important project.
“Wow, this is a big team. I’m so glad to meet everyone and excited to start,” said the bright-eyed enthusiastic Jamie.
“Oh no you haven’t met everyone. Milly is not here today. She’s on leave but she’ll be back in the office tomorrow. You’ll be working closely with her and she’ll run you through the progress of our project. For today, you’ll be busy with HR training and filling in forms so don’t get too excited,” said the project manager.
“Sounds like it’s a fun day for me. I’ll look forward to meeting Milly tomorrow,” Jamie laughs.
“Not too much fun with Milly tomorrow. Just kidding. I think you two will get along like a house on fire,” the project manager smiled and winked at Jamie.
‘Why did he winked at me? I wonder what Milly is like?’ Jamie thought to himself as he walked towards his desk and saw a pile of forms he’d be busy filling in today. ‘Looks like it will be a dull day today. Tomorrow will be more exciting than today I’m sure,’ he continues his internal thoughts while logging in to his new laptop.
