Chapter 1
Rain plopped on Jasmine’s fur as she lay under a bush, she lifted her head from the muddy ground, and her four kits lay there, shivering as the rain continued to fall heavily, jasmine knew she had to get her kits to a dryer place and warm up, but that was not as easy as it sounds. The rain hadn’t stopped for days, most animals left for farmlands or died from the cold, she feared that would be the road that her family would have to choose all too soon. She got up, shaking the raindrops out of her coat. and gently nudged her kits awake with her nose, one by one they started to sturr awake, “hamf” said chestnut, sounding annoyed.
Crowberry opened her eyes ``why are we up ma?” she asked sleepy, ice stuck to their fur as one by one they awoke, jasmine picked up the most minor kit, acorn, and started to walk north. The farther down the mountain, they got, the less rainy it became, with each step jasmine took, she felt she was making her path, a path she made.
“Are we there yet?” the kits wined annoyingly, jasmine was on her last nerve, “if you ask me one more time I will-” she stopped, too frustrated to talk anymore. “Mom, ” the kits started again “it hasn’t even been a minute!” Jasmine yelled and turned around to face the kites, the kit’s eyes went wide as jasmine started to scold them ’are you even listening to me?!” Jasmine asked once she was finished. “What? Cat got your tongue?” she asked teasingly, the four kites started to back up slowly, “wh-″ jasmine started as she turned around, standing right behind her, she looked up to see the tall two leg “oh starclan..” she said.
She froze, it was the first time as a mother she had experienced anything like this, she moved into a defensive posture and was determined to let anything bad happen to her four kits. The two-legged was not at the full size she noticed but was still a threat to her kits. She noticed that the two legs were a good distance away from them, which made her mind less worried, but the danger was not over yet. As they walked across the fields, Jasmine kept her eyes fixed on the small two legs. now the rain had almost stopped, she looked at the mountain which was once their home, heavy clouds surrounded it, and ahead of them was a forest, tall green trees towered overhead as they walked, “kits, stay close to me”Jasmine said softly, chestnut, crowberry, acorn, she counted her kits, she looked around for evergreen, “hun, don’t eat that” she said, evergreen was about to eat a millipede on the ground, “aw man” she said as she walked over to her mother. As they walked deeper into the thicket, the light that seeped from the treetops started to become less and less, and the sound of insects humming drowned out any other. Jasmine slowly started to regret walking into the forest, she didn’t know what to do if something came, this was not her domain as she walked she noticed it became dead quiet. she slowly came to a stop, moving her kits under her. She turned around suddenly hearing a snap, not wanting to risk her kits, she crouched, making it mostly impossible to get to them from the outside, her ears pricked up, listening intently. The air was crisp and silent, whatever was there did not want to be found.
The wind was so thick you could cut it, and jasmine was on edge and the gears started to turn her head, could it be another two-leg? Unlikely, what about another cat? Her fur began to stand on end at the horrible thought. She soon got annoyed that whatever was there was taking its sweet time to come out, she began to walk a little closer but then realized if she did then her kits would be unsafe, so she lay crouched, hoping that whatever was there was not a danger.
azShe remembered the two legs and started to panic, they were not that far away. Her mind got the best of her and she started to inch toward the bush her kits stayed where they were. then it pounced. In a flash of fur and fangs, you see a Pixie-bob, you jump away, forgetting about your kits, but staying is even worst. Jasmine jumped into a bush, hoping the Pixie-bob will not care about her kits, she watched in fear as the Pixie-bob stalked up to the kits, they meowed for her, not knowing the danger.
The pixie-bob slowly stocked up to the kites, jasmines eyes widened with fear as the cat crouched and sniffed them slowly.
