Amanda Throllip was a beautiful little girl- she had black hair and blue eyes with the deepest dimples you’ve ever seen. Ever since Amanda’s eleventh birthday, Amanda had been combing her hair five times daily- her hair felt like silk and it never, ever frizzed. She straightened her hair at 6 o’clock every morning, washed it at 6 o’clock every evening and cut her hair at least twice a month.

One morning Amanda climbed out of her bed to straighten her hair- she looked into the mirror with her sleepy eyes. She looked… and looked… until the harsh reality hit her: “One of my hairs is out of its place!” She yelled and grabbed her straightner to tame her rebellious hair. After half-an-hour of straightening, the rebellious hair still didn’t submit to the intense heat of the straightner.

“Oh no!” she cried: “now I can never show my face in public again!”

She decided to go to Mr. Dumpty: “He’ll know what to do,” she thought. She went to Mr. Dumpty, who sat on the wall: “Mr. Dumpty! I have a rebellious hair, do you have any idea how I can straighten it?”

“Well, my dear, I don’t know how you can straighten your hair, but you can try and be like me: bold as an egg!”

“Oh, thank you Mr. Dumpty for your advice. I hope you have a nice day!”

Amanda skipped down the road, with her upright, rebellious hair wavering in the wind until she came to Rapunzel’s tower.

“Rapunzel, Rapunzel, you are so fair- do you have any idea how I can straighten my hair?” Rapunzel came to the balcony of her tower and said: “Well, if you want your hair to be straight, you should let a prince climb up your hair at least once daily.”

“Oh thank you Rapunzel for your advice. I hope you have a nice day. Bye!”

Amanda skipped further down the road until she came to the house of Hansel and Gretel. She knocked on the door. “Hansel, Gretel! Are you here? I have a rebellious hair- do you have any idea how I can straighten it?” Hansel and Gretel came out of the house.

“Morning Amanda,” they both said, “we have no idea how you can straighten your hair, but maybe you can throw breadcrumbs on your head…”

“Oh thank you Hansel and Gretel for your advice. I hope you have a nice day. Bye!”

After everyone had given Amanda advice, she was a little confused about which advice to follow, so she decided to follow everyone’s advice. She shaved a part of her head, to be bold. She couldn’t find a prince to climb up the rest of her hair daily, so she asked her brother to do that and she threw breadcrumbs on her scalp, but birds soon came, ate the crumbs and made a nest in her hair.

After a week, she took another look at herself in the mirror… and she was absolutely horrified!

She ran to her mother, who was hanging the washing on the washing line. “Mommy, mommy! My hair- my beautiful hair- is ruined! I don’t know what to do!”

“Amanda, dear, your father and I have been concerned about your recent change of hairstyle, but we thought it was only a teenager phase. Let me see what I can do about the matter…” Amanda’s mother went into the house and came back with a bottle of Body on Tap.

“Here dear, wash your hair with this…It will give your hair body that turns heads.”

After a week, Amanda’s hair was back to, well, almost normal. She still had an enormous bold spot her head, but her mother bought her a topey to cover it. Amanda could once again show her face in public… and even the rebellious hair was tamed. And Amanda, as well as her hair, lived happily after.
