Day 1/Chapter1

New York City is the city that doesn’t sleep and the city that I can’t find a good man in it. I’ve been dating lames, dames, and pains. Dudes with good jobs but bad personalities are close to being psychotic. I’ve dated the exotics, with nice hair muscles, and good teeth but they are momma boys. And the mommas didn’t like me.

Therefore, I give up, trying to find love in this city. So I’m moving to Houston, Texas cause I heard the southern men is where it’s at. Also, it’s time for some new scenery. I have never lived anywhere else except in New York.

Anyway, my name is Samira. I’m short brown skin plus size woman. I own a pitbull named Muffy after Muffy from the Arthur Children show. She is a bougie thing that I simply adore. I’m a Librarian in a public school in Brooklyn. And every other weekend, I volunteer in the public library and I read to the kids. When I’m not doing that, I’m hanging out with my best friend Danielle. She is a media personality and a fashion/style blogger. She is also single cause like I stated New York’s dudes ain’t shit. Anyway, she is such a fun and sweet person. She is an extrovert and I’m an introvert so we balance each other. And this also means that she loves dragging me places, like right now. We are headed to a grand opening event for her hairstylist’s new Brooklyn salon.

“You think it’s going to be some fine men there? *Danielle

“I doubt it but you know her better than I do.

“Yea for like 6 months. I mean her husband is fine so maybe he will have friends there.

“We shall see.

We get to the event and walk in. I feel like all eyes are on us or maybe specific eyes.

“Damn, it’s some fine men in here. I hope they ain’t gay. *Danielle

“You are going to need a new bestie since I’m moving.*Samira

“Let’s not talk about that. Let’s chat with the host and mingle. *Danielle

Easton POV

I’m chopping it up with my friends at my sister’s grand opening when two gorgeous and thick women walk in.

“Damn, they look good. *East

“Since when is that your type, you usually go for wannabe IG models that get a BBL in the bathroom of Popeyes. *Damon

“Their asses could be fake. *East

“Nah, that’s homegrown which you know nothing about. Let’s go introduce ourselves. *Xavier

He walks away and we follow behind him.

“Good evening, my name is Xavier".

“And I’m Damon."

“Hi, I’m Danielle and this is Samira."

Samira and I lock eyes

“You are beautiful."

“Thank You."

She blushes

“So you know my sister?"

“Danielle does and I just wanted to support a fellow black woman doing her thing. This place looks great and your sister is great too. So I will definitely make an appointment, plus it’s in my area."

“Oh, you a Brooklyn girl."

“Yup, born and raised. Mr. Harlem dude."

“So do all the women out here look good as you, maybe I need to move."

“Nah, I’m one of a kind."

“I can tell. What do you do for a living?

“I’m a Librarian at an Elementary, PS 256.

“Oh shit! I teach at that school. *Damon

“I knew you look familiar. You teach 5th grade, right? All the 5th-grade girls and some boys love you"

“And I have heard from them about the nice library lady. East likes kids too, yall should exchange numbers."

This nigga trying to be a matchmaker

“Go back to bothering Danielle, Xavier already got her hypnotized over there. *East

“They moved!

He quickly walks away and we laugh

“I feel bad for Danielle, my niggas are too much. Especially Damon"

“She can handle them. "*Samira

“What can you handle?" *East

“Wouldn’t you like to know? Anyway, what do you do? *Samira

“I’m a sanitation worker."

“That must be interesting."

“Yea, people have thrown out weird things. I have a bunch of stories that I can tell you if I get your number."

“Smooth. But okay, sure."

We exchange numbers and I stick by her side throughout the whole event except during bathroom breaks. My pops and mom love her. My sister, Tierra has claimed her and Danielle as her new besties/sisters. I have a good feeling about Samira.
