POV~Aurora
Seventeen Years After The Incident
I glanced at the map of Sylveria, putting a pin in the middle of Bronzewood, the werewolf land. “Terence, what is our power at?” I asked the delta. “Pretty high.” he commented, walking behind me. “The new adoption of the Silverclaw pack has raised us higher.” I paused. “Would that be enough to ambush the fae? Do we have enough resources?”
He didn’t move. “We have a decent amount of weaponry, but they have a better structured economy. I’ll check to see how many military omegas we have.” His sharp amber eyes met mine. “Anything else, Luna Aurora?” I shook my head. “No. Thank you, Terence. You may be about your duties. I give you my gratitude for the help.”
He nodded and left the planning room. The moment I heard the door close, I crashed on the couch and sighed in exhaustion. “Aurora, you’re working yourself too hard.” Lily scolded. “Making a war with the fae isn’t the highest priority.”
My wolf was always like a comforting mother, watching over me and constantly making sure I didn’t wear out my energy. I never had a mother, it was just my father, Avalon and me. Every time I thought about Avalon was just a punch in the gut. We were omegas in our old pack, before it was demolished.
I shook the thought out my head, going back to the pack house to see Cassia, my closest friend, and my Beta. Even though I was a Luna, I was only twenty-four. Looking around at the pack, my heart shone with pride. It had been my pack for eleven years, and I deserved being a Luna.
I reached the main hall of the pack house and met the familiar forest green eyes of Cassia. “Hey, Rors! You doing okay?” she asked. I nodded. “Great.” I looked down at my watch. 7:30. Tom would be headed to sleep in fifteen minutes.
“I have a surprise for you!” She grinned at me. I arched my left eyebrow. “What are you up to now, Cass?” Cassia laughed. “You’ve been working so hard lately, so I was thinking....how about we go clubbing at Mystyc tonight? The club came out two weeks ago and they have three floors! Three! And the top is obviously a VIP floor for Alphas, Lunas and invited guests.”
Cassia elbowed me, her dark hair brushing my shoulder. I sighed. “What about Tom? He’s gonna sleep soon.” She scoffed. “Don’t be worried about it.” she said. “Kestra’s gonna be fine with him. She’s like a second mother to him.”
Because I don’t have enough time for him. The thought trailed in my mind, unsaid. “Go!” Lily urged. “If you don’t have time for yourself, you’ll be exhausted even more.” I sighed. “Fine. We’ll go for one night.” Cassia cheered and dragged me up to my walk-in closet. I looked at us both in the mirror.
With Cassia’s tanned skin, wavy black hair, green eyes and my pale skin, white hair and blue-gray eyes, we would steal the show. Cassia picked out a shimmery sequined black dress that ended at her knees, along with black pumps and mascara.
I chose a white dress with spaghetti straps, ending at mid-thigh, white heels, diamond studs, blush and mascara. She shrieked with excitement. “We haven’t done this in ages!” I let myself smile, stress slowly easing off. “Well, what are we waiting for? Let’s go!“
We both ran out the house as fast as we could, and took a taxi to the club, which was fifteen minutes. We arrived, and I heard the EDM blasting out the building. The bouncer cleared his throat. “Please state your names and pack.”
Cassia stepped forward. “Beta Cassia Tarni and Luna Aurora Ashward of the Bloodcrest pack.” He nodded. “Step this way.” I walked into the nightclub, feeling the music and lights bounce off my skin. Cassia dragged me to a bar, plopping down on one of the stools.
“The four floors start with this. This is the first floor, the dance floor/bar. The second floor has lounge areas, a hot tub, cabanas and a whole ton of cool decor. The third floor is for high-ranked and their guests only. There’s a private pool, a bar, caverns for soundproof rooms, with windows and other stuff. I’ve never been up there though!”
I smiled. “Well, let’s have some fun.” After what felt like hours, I danced with a bunch of guys, wolf scent prominent in the club. There were mostly gammas and deltas, with a few betas. No Alphas or Lunas in sight or scent. Cassia cupped her hand over her mouth, yelling over the music. “I’m going upstairs. Wanna come?”
I shook my head, and her dark hair vanished in the crowd. The moment Cassia vanished, I felt a strong arm on my back. I whipped around to see a tall man with an Alpha scent, curly black hair and blood-red eyes, staring at me.
“Hello, beautiful. You look lost in here. If you need help, I know my way out and in everything.” Lily went crazy. “Claim him, claim him!” I was shocked at her sudden attraction. I was a Luna, claimed by an Alpha.
But I couldn’t help but feel gravitated towards him. “I don’t need or want anything.” He smirked. “Do you want a dance?” I threw his smirk back at him. “Do I?” His nose twitched, as he circled me, his sharp werewolf teeth glinting in the neon lights.
“You’re a Luna. Claimed by who?” he demanded. I gave him a look of irritation. “Who are you to ask?” I retorted. The man laughed. “Fiesty.” he said, trailing his finger on my shoulder. “At least tell me your name, darling.” I glared at him. “I’m Luna Aurora Ashwood of the Bloodcrest pack, claimed by Wyatt Embler, Alpha of the Bloodcrest pack.”
I threw my mate’s name at him, hoping to give him a hint. He just laughed. “Quite a mouthful, I’d say. I’ll call you Aurora.” I gathered every ounce of venom I had, and glared at him, my eyes testing dominance. His sharp red eyes caught on, and he locked in my gaze. The staring test had gone on longer and longer, until I broke off.
His voice turned husky, and I felt lust roll over me, consuming my spirit. “I can show you more than a staring contest, Aurora.” His fingers slid from my shoulder, down to my waist, pulling my form closer to him.
The music changed and he started to dance with me, my hips against his. He spun my wrist, so my back was on his chest. “Who are you?” I asked. His lips curled up in a smile. “Alpha Blake Angeles.”
I smirked. “I know. I could smell it off you. Your title means nothing to me.” smugness in my voice. “It should.” he said. “And your last name..Angeles.” I continued. “You look nothing of an angel.” I retorted, refusing to meet his gaze.
“You’re the angel.” he purred. “And I’m the devil.” He smiled lazily, his startling red eyes smoldering. “So. Do you desire me more than you gather? Or is there something else, that you always have wanted?” His tone was low and seductive, and startled me into genuine laughter.
I looked up at him, my sharp gray gaze spearing him. “You aren’t who I desire.” His eyes shifted from a crimson to a deep red rose shade. I wanted then, to tell him everything on my mind. “I’m satisfied with my life, but there’s just something missing. I love my mate and my pup, but I miss my sister.”
“Your sister?” he asked. “What’s her name? Is she as ravishing as you?” My eyes darkened with fury and grief, ignoring the compliment. “Avalon. She was three when I lost her in an accident seventeen years ago. I’m lucky that I got out there alive.” I expected Blake to nod, or apologize for my loss. That's what everyone else did. But he was the first one who I've told her real name to.
Blake looked shocked, his iris shifting back to the crimson shade I'd seen at first. "Is she fae, or werewolf?" he asked. "Fae." The moment that word slipped out of my tongue, every ounce of his playful, attracting act had vanished. "I assume you don't know, so just let me tell you."
I was staring at him with shock, in terror of what he was about to say. "Do you remember the Sparkcrest war?" he asked. I nodded, fists clenching. "Very clearly." I snarled, every word full of daggers. The Sparkcrest war was between the Bloodcrest pack, my pack, and the fae, eight years ago. We lost so many people. It was how Cassia's family died, and how she was forced from Delta to Beta in one night.
Nearly half our pack was dead, but the last minutes of the war were cemented in my mind. "You failed. You failed to protect your pack from this war. We will always be powerful over you, and you don't deserve to be a Luna! The princess was right. You are weak."
The cruel fae's words never died. Blake gripped my clenched hands. "The fae don't attack on random. Even though the werewolves and the fae aren't on best terms, the fae are peaceful. The only one who commanded the attack was the new princess, who was queen regent."
I growled. "What was her name?" Blake stared at me for a long time, to the point of uncomfort. "Is there something that you aren't telling me?" I demanded. He looked to the ground and back up at me.
"Avalon Feywood."
