Prologue
Morgana stood in front of the king, guilt radiating off of her as he looked at her, disappointment in his eyes. She looked around at the court and the group of Faeries that had gathered around to witness her fate.
As she looked around, she thought about how beautiful the court was, but she probably would've appreciated it more if she wasn't being on trial. She focused her attention on the king, but when turned her head back, she saw Prince Aethrys, her best friend, staring at her sadly. She was going to miss him.
She swept her eyes past Aethrys, then met eyes with Princess Alina and Prince Nikolai. They were all looking at her coldly, as if they could stare into the depths of her soul. They probably could. They had always hated her for some reason, and she could never figure out why. She supposed she would never find out why.
The king sighed, then said, "I, King Aleksander, hereby exile Morgana from Faerie Land. From this point on until a ruler says otherwise, she is to be killed on sight if spotted in Faerie Land. Her crime is removing herself from the crown."
Morgana looked at her family, and as her family refused to meet her eyes, she shook her head, realizing that they really did hate her. She didn't fight back when the guards dragged her out of the court and summoned a few ragwort horses, then carried her across.
They dropped her in the human world, looked at her pitifully, then left on the ragwort horses. Morgana shuddered, as it was freezing, then she picked herself up, grabbed a pile of leaves, waved her hand over them, and turned them into gold.
She went to the nearest shop and exchanged the gold for food, water, and warm clothes. Then she stepped outside of the shop, breathed in a breath of fresh air, then walked off to begin her life.
