Present Day...

“It’s a lie”, Sayyad mumbling behind bars of Tihar prison.

Officers came and took him in prison van. It was early morning and the

Sunrays are flashing in his eyes after a long time of darkness. His face is

bruised, beaten to pulp, he can barely open his eyes. There is a light

smile on his face which reminds him that he is free.

Sayyad standing silently at courtroom, while his eyes searching for someone among everyone.

That Day...

Reema is scribbling in back of her Maths book, humming some music while Sayyad is solving

her arithmetic problems. “Hmm, it’s done” said Sayyad. “Hey! It’s not funny. You have

your maths exams in few days and you haven’t completed a single chapter.”

“Don’t worry, everything’s gonna be fine.” said Reema.

Sayyad:“What do you mean by that? It’s not funny Reema, what do you think your mom and dad

say to me if you don’t score well? It’s not what they are paying me for. Grow up.”

Reema (wildly): “okay! Okay! Relax.” She sits beside Sayyad.

Reema: “so what we got here?”

Reema said while keeping her hands on Sayyad legs. Sayyad looks at her with question.

She laughs looking at his face.

Sayyad (laughing)“it’s not funny Reema”.

He pushed her in fun.

Reema:“Well, it was kind of funny when we did it last time”.

Sayyad: “yeah it was, but it’s not right and you know it.

Reema: “what do you mean by that?”

Sayyad: “I mean (paused) what done is done, we can’t do anything about it but...”

Reema (interrupting): “but you got what you wanted so you don’t want to go further right”

Sayyad:“I didn’t say that, why you’re talking like that?”

Reema: “I am talking like that cuz you are behaving like you don’t care.”

Sayyad: “but I do care. That’s the point. I don’t want to end what we have here without thinking

forward of our future...”

Reema: “and you don’t think I know that?”

Sayyad (angrily): “No! You don’t.”

Reema (angrily): “and why is that?”

Sayyad (loud tone): “cuz you are a kid.”

Sayyad stood up and walks away from Reema at the window while Reema kept her eyes on him. Sayyad looks at her with compassion and guilt.

Present Day...

Sayyad looking at Reema’s mother in courtroom with same guilt he felt on that day with Reema.

judge passed the judgement. Police takes him away from the court. Reema sitting inside her car

while her mother comes and tell her about the judgement. Reema starts crying with guilt and hugs

her mom.

That Day...

Sayyad (while hugging Reema): I am sorry.

Reema: Me too.

Reema’s father opens her room door and comes furiously to Sayyad while both looks shockingly

at him. Her father raises his hind with the intention of beating Sayyad.

Present Day...

Sayyad sitting in police van silently and with shock from which he could never recover. He never said anything to anyone. Whole time he just mumbled one and only one thing. “IT’S A LIE”. Sayyad charged with Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO ACT) 2012.
