Summary

Abby esconde su dolor tras una pintura con luces y sombras, nadie va a descubrirlo, o eso creía hasta que conoce a un crítico de arte que se empeña en descubrir su pasado. Edward huye de los problemas refugiándose en el arte, pero ninguna pintura le ha causado tantos problemas como "Luces y sombras", tampoco había visto alguna que le pareciera tan enigmática y quiere saber el porqué. Sus pasados están más unidos de lo que creen y el desconocido que los acecha desde las sombras es solo el inicio de sus problemas.

Prólogo

Las lágrimas han parado de correr por mis mejillas, tiene sentido, no puedes llorar si ya no queda nada por dentro.

—¿Abby?

Mi tía me llama, pero mi mirada se encuentra en la pared frente a mí, lisa y blanca, igual que yo en este momento.

—¿Abigail? —esta vez es el doctor Carson quien me llama.

Levanto mi vista hasta la identificación en su bata, es psicólogo, creen que estoy loca solo porque no puedo hablar después de lo que pasó.

»—Abigail ¿Quieres hablar conmigo?

Niego.

No quiero hablar con nadie además de mis padres... y ellos ya no están.


Miro correr a los niños en el salón del hospital, ellos me invitan, pero yo no quiero, no tengo ganas ni de correr ni de reír.

Una de las chicas que organiza el evento se me acerca, tiene el rostro pintado con mariposas.

—Hola ¿Quieres que pintemos tu cara, como a los demás niños?

Niego, miro a los lados buscando a mi tía o al doctor, no quiero estar aquí, pero solo veo niños por todas partes.

—Está bien, pero te dejo unas hojas y unos colores para que dibujes.

Los deja en mis manos y va a jugar con los otros niños y yo me escondo en una equina alejada, me siento en el suelo y miro a los niños correr de un lado a otro. Aburrida dejo la hoja en el suelo y saco los colores.

Tomo el color azul oscuro y comienzo a trazar distraídamente la hoja hasta cubrirla casi por completo, cambio de color, dibujo un girasol sonriendo en el centro para luego terminar con el blanco haciendo unas líneas que parecen relámpagos en el cielo.

Un chico con una mata de rizos se sienta a mi lado distrayéndome. Lo conocí aquí en el hospital y se me ha pegado a mi como chicle, parece lo más cercano a un amigo.

—Hola, Abby ¿Qué haces? —mira de la hoja a mi—, oh, estas dibujando.

Asiento.

»—¿Qué se supone que dibujaste?

No me molestó que no haya entendido el dibujo porque parece un marañero de colores.

Escribo con uno de los colores el dorso de la hoja.

Un girasol con luces en el cielo

y en el fondo oscuridad.

—Oh, tienes razón. En ese dibujo hay muchas luces y sombras.

Sonrío, como no lo había hecho hace mucho tiempo, porque por fin alguien me ha comprendido y no he necesitado usar palabras.
