"This review comes after 10 chapters and I'm blown away by the quality of AJ's writing. There is some massive world building within these chapters which eases as the story of Klara takes over and becomes more focused on her journey, but never did I feel put off and there are always clever little recaps or reminders that emphasize who is relevant and why. There were a lot of throwaway comments about events, places, and people, to enrich the history behind the setting and story, making the world feel real. During scenes where characters exchanged dialogue, they played out like a movie in my head, which is a compliment to AJ's skill as a writer, which kept me glued to the page and a breeze to read. The real Adept here is AJ Wright, who is on a journey herself to becoming an amazing writer and story teller.
