Hexorth Institute of Wizardry
A brief history and school protocols.
_Founded by Luna B. Crow, Victoria Blackwood, Phoenix Highmore, Rose Snow, Torin Killoran, Wayde Le Doux, Tierney Norwood, Calder Jinx, and Tiordan Whisper, sometime around the 9th century. Hexorth was established in the Highlands of Scotland on Barra Head to educate young wizards and witches. The name was decided by the group in honor of their coven head Alexander Hexorth who perished before the schools construction was finished. About 300 years after the school was founded, the Quinwizard Competition was established as an interscholastic competition among the most prestigious magical schools in Europe. The tournament has continued on for six centuries, though for the past sixty years, Hexorth has lost the Quinwizard Competition consecutively.__
Due to ongoing prosecution from the non-magical most of Hexorths students come from across Scotland and Great Britain. The schools location must be kept hidden. As a reminder Hexorth is a coeducational, secondary boarding school. Taking children from ages thirteen to seventeen. And though the school can comfortably house one thousand students only six hundred are admitted. Our school admission is highly selective, in that children who show great magical ability will automatically gain acceptance, while Unfortunates will not attend our school as students. There is an admission test that must be completed before you have entry to the school. Acceptance or refusal of a place at Hexorth must be posted by July 31. This letter also contains a list of supplies like spell books, uniforms, and other things that the student will need. The prospective student is expected to buy all the necessary materials, from shops in Esberry Isle, a concealed wizarding town near Dumbiedykes Road in Scotland. Students who cannot afford their supplies can receive financial aid from the school. Each student must bring an owl with the acceptance letter so that they can deliver mail home, first-year students are sent a list of required equipment the Hexorth uniform which consists of plain black robes, a plain black hat, a pair of protective gloves, and a black winter cloak with white fastenings will be handed out apon acceptance. Each uniform will contain the wearer's nametag.
First-years are required to craft a broomstick of their own, though this will only happen after they enter the school. The primary mode of transport to Hexorth is The Alderney, a ship that students take at the start of each school year. Students board the ship from the hidden dock at Boatshed Scotland in Fairlie, Scotland. The ship will arrive at Rockminster dock near Hexorth, at 11p.m sharp and arrive at Hexorth just before sunrise. From there, potential students are accompanied by the Groundskeeper to carriages, which will escort your child and the Groundskeeper to the Gloomyard Maze to do their entrance exam which includes three small challenges based on abilities, personality, and preferences and if they pass they will be brought to the castle for the Sorting Ceremony to join their school house. After the Sorting Ceremony, the students and teachers enjoy a feast, prepared by the Hexorth house-elves followed by a teacher leading the students in singing the school song.
