Prologue
THE GENIE
Humans.
They're all the same—weak and extremely selfish.
And pathetically predictable and unimaginative.
They all want the same thing—wealth, power, beauty, youth, and immortality. And they rarely ever deviate from these five wishes.
But they forget that beauty fades, wealth changes people, power only works if you know how to wield it correctly and immortality doesn't make you a God.
Old age might not get you but diseases and accidents can still kill you. Also, it's no fun watching all of your loved ones die and get buried six feet under while you live on. Eternal life is not all it's cracked up to be.
I should know.
I've been alive for 2000 years and counting. And it is fucking boring to be alive this long.
However, there is one thing that gives me a little bit of joy and it keeps me going.
And that is watching these idiots making a fucking fool of themselves over and over again. They don't ever learn. History always repeats itself and it doesn't ever get boring.
When a new Master summons me, I get my fucking popcorn ready to grant his or her wish and prepare with delight for the drama that's about to ensue.
