The Night
A girl stood there, in front of a broken carousel, in the middle of an abandoned carnival. It was raining cats and dogs. She stared at a near-destroyed haunted house that was a distance.
I stood in the back, staring at her from a distance. She didn’t know I was there. I was sure the old memories flooded her mind while she stood in front of the carousel. That was the last happy moment she ever had with her parents. After her family returned home that day, all of them were killed by a psycho serial killer. The parents sacrificed their lives and killed the serial killer so that their daughter could escape safely. They told her to never return to this place but she did anyway. The carnival was abandoned a few years ago when people started claiming that they have been seeing ghosts of the serial killer and the parents who died in the house. Although the body of the serial killer was never found after that day. The police investigated the case several times but no one knew what happened to the killer. Most people believed that he died somewhere else. The rest believed he escaped and is still living among others.
Some people even tried to destroy the house but failed. She was soaked by the rainwater. After a while, she walked towards the haunted house. I followed her from a safe distance. She didn’t know I was following her in. She opened the half-broken door and stepped in. She could feel the cold, chilly breeze past her and so could I. She walked in. The water was dripping through the cracks in the ceiling. The house still looked the same as it did 10 years ago. She walked towards the interior of the house. She looked towards the corner of the room. There were still blood stains from that night 10 years ago. It brought back the traumatic experience from when she was 9 years old. She tried hard for all those years to forget that night but failed miserably. She had countless nightmares due to the incident. Was she here to face her fears and get a grip on her traumatic experience or was she here to die? I watched her as she stood there, staring at the corner of the room.
“Mom! Dad! I am back. I am back here. Finally, after 10 years. I will soon be with you!”
Oh wait, I had completely forgotten. She is suffering from some organ malfunction? Or was it organ failure?
I don’t exactly remember but honestly, I don’t care. I have waited for this girl to come here for 10 years and finally, she is here. I walked towards her, swiftly but carefully. She turned around suddenly. I grabbed her neck and choked her. She couldn’t even shout. Her feet were above the ground. Tears fell out of her eyes. Before she knew it, her wish was fulfilled. She was now with her parents. I dropped her. She now lay dead, by my feet. Poor girl, I didn’t even give her a chance to beg for mercy. What was the point though? She was going to die soon anyways.
What could I do? After all, I am the psycho serial killer.
