Chapter 1

The Sierra and Valentine blade

A scientist soldier lived in the world of Avalorn, in a small kingdom of Eteseon. Her name was Mira Valentine, she was known for her very noticeable appearance and her techniques of studying the worlds magic. Her deep blue locks, her textured dark skin grazed with scars over her arms, her lilac eyes that draw you in when she speaks. A warm-hearted woman treated like an unbreakable weapon.

Quiet steps scatter across the tile flooring of the castle, frantic fingers twitching between each other, pacing across the room before being interrupted by a beautiful duchess, her deep blue locks clipped back, and an elegant yellow gown wrapped around her body, her face clear as day, but her face panicked and concerned. “The war threats are getting worse as the days go by! Mira... how are we going to fix this...” the yellow dressed woman sputters out of her mouth before quickly walking to Mira, holding her hands tightly. Mira takes a deep breath, unsure of what to tell her dearest duchess. “I don’t know sis; we don’t have a specific reason to call for help. We need a request of some sort.”

The duchess’ eyes fill with slight hope, “that’s it!” she quickly runs to the drawers of the room. She yells, facing away from Mira as she scavenges for something. “The other day I got a request from the Sierra Kingdom requesting any sort of help with magic, you work with magic right? You could help her!” she finally finds an open envelope; she lets out a sigh of relief before handing it to Mira. Mira rubs the bridge of her nose, easing out a headache, her face full on confusion and slight frustration. “Now why on earth would I help the Sierra kingdom? Its not like they’ve ever helped us, and we have more pressing matters then whatever they need.” She slightly mutters to herself as she carefully pulls out a letter from the envelope, handing the empty envelope back to the duchess. She begins reading the letter, her eyes quickly following each word across the calligraphed lines. “Wait... the Sierra princess is a dragon?! More importantly, why would she, a very smart woman at that, need help controlling her own powers?”

The duchess – Azurith, shrugs her shoulders as she adjusts her dress as she looks into the mirror of the vanity. “couldn’t tell you Mira, but this is good! If we get her powers under control, she’ll be able to help us in battle!” Mira sighs annoyingly, “no, not going to happen, I’ve never worked with such intense powers, especially from a dragon.” Her voice clearly trying to remind Azurith all the cons of this task. “Well, there’s not much else we can do! We have two weeks to prepare for this war.”

Mira’s eyes flicker with realization of the severity of the situation, it’s almost like you can hear her brain flicking through reasons to consider but no budge. She clears her throat. “I’m sorry but it’s too dangerous, and it takes at least a day to get to the Sierra kingdom.” walking to the door and she says to Azurith. “I’ll figure something out, I promise.” She pauses at the door, her gaze at Azurith filled with sympathy, before quietly walking out her steps slowly descending in volume, leaving Azurith in confusion of why she refused so quickly.

Later.

An envelope flips through the door of Mira’s room, it’s clear what it is, but Mira doesn’t want to take it, she must protect Azurith, protect the kingdom, there’s so much unfinished business here in Eteseon. Mira steps out of her stressed cocoon and picks up the envelope hesitantly, flipping it open.

The letter reads.

’Dear Mira Valentine, the Sierra kingdom in Wilphensa has requested your assistance in magic, we have searched for many magical scientists, and you Mira, fit the criteria excellently, we request you arrive at our kingdom on the 23rd of April, we await your arrival, please consider this offer, we will pay you a handsome reward.

From: The Sierra Council.

Mira bites at her nails, her eyes darting over the brief letter repeatedly, contemplating how to go about this. it is becoming pushier now, she checks her calendar, 21st of April. Panic fills her face, 2 days to get there. ‘I have to do this, I must do this, for her. To keep her safe.’ She begins reminding herself, stumbling around to find clothes and items to bring. She keeps her bag of items brief, rushing outside of her room, opening to a vast hall, multiple guest room doors on the walls behind her. Thick leather boots hit across the wooden floor, scattered steps travel out into the light shining through the window, glowing against her deep blue locks, the sun reflecting of her Armour chest and shoulder plates. Mira rushes down the stairs at the end of the hall, “Azurith! Azurith! I’m leaving to Wilphensa!” She rushes past the kitchen, where Azurith stands, in confusion, shock, and relief...? Azurith shrugs, turning back to whatever she was baking. “Huh. guess she took the offer.”

The castle door flips open to Mira slipping on a frilly jacket, and taking a loud bite out of an apple, her glossy eyes reflecting off the sun as light kisses her face, her fawn like ears wiggle to little chirps from birds. Mira walks to a stable near the side of the castle, a tall, elegant horse with silver hair looks up, jumping around, the horse’s expression ecstatic. “Hey daisy, excited to see me? Well, we’re going on a long trip!” Mira smiles warmly, patting the horse, Daisy. Mira carefully hops up onto Daisy and pulls out a map out of her pocket, she unfolds a wrinkly old map of Aphelin (the state), her eyes scan across the map, as she mutters to herself the directions from Eteseon to Wilphensa. “Alright…” Mira pulls her hair back into a ponytail, little frilly curls sticking out of the hair tie, and pieces fallen out the front showing her heterochromia and peculiar birthmark. “On we go daisy!” she taps daisy letting her know to start moving as she holds the whip as they gallop along onto a long journey to Wilphensa.
