Chapter 1
My mind was racing while I contemplated going through with my plan. I had overheard the Orcs chattering away in the forbidden forest talking about the massive God and Goddess party that was going on at the edge of the forest in Kordev. I couldn’t believe it had already been two years, two long excruciating years. My heart strained in the memory of what had happened, what had happened to me. My arms were paper white having lost my heavenly glow, my sun-golden hair now pure white and long. The most prominent feeling I had was anger and hatred. It was all towards two people which was Ari and Fay. Finally making up my mind, I silently came down from the fortress that I had built over the two years to survive the Forbidden Forest. My clothes are made from the unfortunate soul of those who lost their lives here that the Orcs discarded before feasting on them. Two years ago I would have never thought I would become this tough, thought I would actually survive more than a day in the Forbidden Forest alone. My mind began to wonder in the memory of what had happened two years ago.
I took a shaky breath realizing I had made it to the edge of the forest to see the grand hall where I knew that Ari and Fay would be. This was a two-year event where all the God and Goddess joined together peacefully for fun. Mostly for couples to see others as well as where you could meet your Dragoste Eterna. The Dragoste Eterna was just like mates for werewolves but only in a different term, it meant your eternal love. I had honestly thought that Ari was my eternal mate. Yet now after time, I knew he was not my dragoste eterna.
Over the two years, my golden eyes changed to a light blue that almost glowed due to being in the dark in the Forbidden Forest. My body had adapted to my surroundings, it was easy for me to see in the dark. My heart clenched in my chest I needed to see how Ari was doing, I wanted to see if he was suffering without me. I wanted to tell him what actually happened as well as tell the others what had happened to me. I wanted him and Fay to suffer a fate that they had sent me to.
While taking a deep breath a gracefully walked towards the Kordev halls. I held my head high planning to show the other Gods and Goddess how cruel Ari and Fay truly were. Glancing around at my surroundings, I wondered if anyone would even recognize me by now. I walked by a few people slightly recognizing them and smiling gently as they returned the gesture. They didn’t recognize me at all, I had to look the same just different aura and color.
I was about to walk by a window towards the front door but stopped dead in my tracks seeing my ex-husband. My heart hammered into my chest seeing a huge smile on his face with his arm wrapped around none other than Fay herself. What made my heart freeze was when I saw the little boy that was almost two years old in Ari’s arms. Fay had given Ari what he truly wanted and heir to his throne. My body shook with complete hatred and anger while I turned on my heel and started rushing away from the place.
I felt like I couldn’t breathe. I wanted to see him suffer I wanted to see him crumbling without me. Yet... he had all that he wanted and it shows that he moved on with no trouble. Anger seeped down into my soul, I could feel it snuffing out the rest of my light that I had left for the heavens.
My eyes cast down at the ground blurred by anger and torture to the point I wasn’t paying attention to my surroundings. It became harder to breath the darkness fully conquering me. My shoulder collided with someone as a loud cracking sound rippled through what seemed like my chest. I gasped out with so much pain I almost didn’t hear the deep dark growl of a man. Shivers ran through my body, not of pain but of something entirely different. Almost as if a spark of arousal, an intense arousal. I gripped my chest and ran towards the forest ignoring whomever I ran into not caring who I pissed off. I no longer cared at this point while the pain coursed through my veins again.
I returned to my fortress climbing up the best I could, my head swarmed with darkness and anger. I was finally broken, all of my light had seeped out of me. The darkness seemed to finally swarm my body as anger and hate bloomed deep within me. The crack was from the last bit of light I had left in my body leaving me. I sat on the limb out of sorts not noticing all the commotion that was going on in the forest. I was truly now no part of the light realm. After an hour I finally looked up seeing a large demon coming straight at me. I sighed heavily while scoffing right after, I had no more fight left in me. I didn’t struggle nor scream when his large hand grabbed my body as if I was a rag doll. The demon looked me over as a spark of interest came to his features. His horns portuded from his forehead curving back as his sharp teeth curled into a snarl. He then snarls lowly as words slipped passed his razor-sharp teeth.
“The King of the Underworld has summoned you, lil snowflake.”
The demon grumbles while he observed me closing, sizing me up for his own sinful thoughts. He then made a comment mostly to himself
“You look yummy to snack on.”
My heart thumped to the bottom of my chest. It was never a good thing if the King of the Underworld summons you, it was like a death sentence in itself. Why the hell did he want to see me and of all nights tonight? I then say to the demon
“Why don’t you just eat me and say that someone else killed me before you got to me?”
I think I was good to die at this point. I had nothing to look forward to and I was tired of fighting for my life in this damn forest. I had no family, no realm... nothing left. I wanted to see my ex-husband suffering yet everything was going great in his own life. The demon chuckles deeply while heading towards the Gates to the Underworld. Luckily it wasn’t too far from the Forbidden Forest. The demon then snarls out
“I would prefer to see what the King wants with someone like you, to see how you pissed him off so much.”
I frowned a bit at the demon wondering what he meant by that. I sighed heavily. I wondered how I pissed him off since I was isolated in the forest for two years with no contact with anyone. The walk was mostly silent the Demon named Xavi wasn’t terrible, to be honest. He was definitely ugly and full of crude jokes, yet what should I expect from a demon. He had answered my questions about the forest with a slight attitude but seemed to like that I was talking to him. I was guessing most people were always screaming and crying for help when he took them. Halfway through he had placed me on his shoulder when he could trust I wasn’t going to run away making it more comfortable for both of us.
Once we enter the gates to the Underworld my eyes widen a bit out of shock. The Underworld wasn’t fire and brimstone as Ari had told me about it. It was actually beautiful, breathtaking in a sense. The sky was dark yet it was illuminated but two full moons and the plants in the forest were filled with glowing plants with different shades of purple, blue, orange, yellow and slight pink. I saw a plant off to the side it was a black leaf that wasn’t glowing making me curious why it wasn’t glowing like the others. My eyebrows knit together as I reached out lightly touching the tip of the leaf it glowed into an intense purple at my touch making me go in awe. Xavi looked over feeling that I had shifted over on his shoulder seeing the plant on my fingertip once my fingers left it faded back to black. A deep concern look etched onto his forehead while observing me intently as if waiting for something to happen to me. I looked down at his face with a raised eyebrow quickly saying
“I’m not trying to run away Xavi.”
Xavi’s eyebrows knit together more harshly but didn’t speak yet kept walking forward with me sitting on his shoulder. I was glad that he hadn’t forced me to walk all the way here my feet would have been nubs by this point. We finally entered a town styled in Victorian and Tudor homes and shops. There were many types of creatures walking around all in nice clothing yet very revealing compared to heaven’s normal attire. I did notice that all of them had dark hair ranging from natural colors to fantasy colors, with no blonde or white hair on site. Even at that, no one had white hair like mine. I noticed a few people looking at me in awe or frowning as if I stuck out like a sore thumb. Xavi then spoke to me
“You are different from all of them, no one has seen someone so light in the underworld in many centuries. You glow like the two moons in our darkness.”
I gave him a half smile I wish I had any light left in me but they all didn’t know that I was cold and dark inside my soul. We came up to the Victorian mansion and he set me down on the stone walkway. Two guards walked over while Xavi whispered something in the guard’s ear making him frown and glance at me. Then nods his head and quickly enters back in the mansion. The other guard looks at me in interest but soon tells me to follow him.
I nodded and willingly went with him, in fear to upset the King any more than I have. Once inside he led me to a grand hall where two men were sitting on their thrones. The room was elaborate yet comfy. The room was wide allowing many people to be in there at once. The walls were decorated with dark blue and blacks with weapons galore. The older man, assuming that it was the King, he had short dark grey hair, black eyes, and dark greyish-white skin. The other man was young close to my age, probably early thirties and I was assuming that was the Prince. The Prince had long black layered hair and grey skin with piercing grey eyes that watched my every move.
They were absolutely terrifying, they were both massive in height and muscle. Not too much but definitely not slim. I bit my lip lingering my eyes over the prince. He had huge gash scars on his chest and one on his face. I quickly bowed toward the two to show my respect. The guard had me stand in the middle in front of them both. The King, if I remembered correctly his name was Lucian, stood up with a very unhappy look on his face. Fuck I had really pissed him off.
“So this is the woman who ran into you and didn’t even apologize?”
My eyes widen in complete realization of what was going on, I cursed heavily at myself. I had disrespected the Prince... What was even worse was it was the Prince of Darkness. My day was now going to be my end which oddly... I was okay with what I had seen today. I think quickly and softly spoke with so much respect
“Your Highness, I am deeply sorry for offending you as well as being so disrespectful of your son...”
The King slammed his thick hand onto the throne making a loud bang echo across the room, instantly making me snap my lips closed. The King then walked up to me with heavy footsteps smacking me hard across the face making me instantly freeze. I’m a little shocked that I hadn’t fallen to the floor with that smack. I saw the Prince sit forward leaning his thick arms on his legs, as if he was about to stop his father but didn’t. I didn’t get angry or tried to fight him. I stood still keeping my eyes cast at the stone flooring showing that I deserved that. I definitely did deserve that, I knew my place. I looked at my feet while saying in defeat
“I will take whatever punishment you see fit even death, King Lucian.”
