Be the Fighter

My name is Katerina and this is my story. Since the age of four I have been in and out of the hospitals for multiple illnesses. Around age one my parents found out I have Asthma along with being allergic to all tree nuts and peanuts. At age five I was officially diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. I had to go throught multiple joint injections where they use a needle to try to pull the fluid out of the joint and inject steroids to help with the inflammation. I have had two surgeries on my right knee, one surgery on my left knee, gall bladder removed, my right ankle fused, both TMJ joints replaced, and have hemorrhaged (lost to much blood). During all this the ones I used to call friends stabbed me in the back and left. Since then I have not allowed anyone outside my family to see all of me. However, I'm an omega and the one thing I wish I could find is my pack. Although at times I don't think anyone would be willing to change so much just to be mine. However, I have hope that this new move to Gatlinburg, Tennessee will be life changing. Know I just have to get through this appointment, go to lunch then straight to the children's hospital for my job interview as a nurse. Which I'm beyond nervous about cause this is my dream job. I'm just hoping my disabilities won't be seen as a liability cause I can the job and connect with the children. I've been in their place, I know what their going through, I just need them to give me the chance to provide myself. Then I'm going back to my apartment to finish unpacking and get my nest built. I know my first heat is coming which is stressing me out too. Like what if I don't find my mates and I have to go through it alone?!

I'm so lost in my throughts that I missed everthing the nurse was saying while she was taking my vitals; pulse, blood pressure, and temperature.

"I'm so sorry I was lost in my head. What were you saying?" The nurse looks so done with everything today she looks ready to leave.

"I said your vitals look good and the doctor should be here soon." Then she walks out not giving me a chance to say thank you, and have a good day.

As she opens the door and leaves the most mouth watering scent hits me in the face. It's the best scent I've ever smelled enters the room, smelling like roasted cinnamon and I am already in love with it. Don't judge me who doesn't love the smell of cinnamon rolls dammit! The next thing I know there is a knock on the door before it's opened and the most gorgeous and powerful Alpha walks in and stops with his mouth opened in shock when he realizes we're mates. While he's taking me in I'm doing the same thing and this Alpha is beyond sexy with so many muscles you can tell he spends a lot of time in the gym and outside giving him an even more of a warm olive skin tone, and if I had to guess an Italian ethnicity. He's in a pair of light blue scrubs that molds to his body with a pair of tattoos peaking out at the bottom of his sleeves. He has the most memorizing sapphire blue eyes, dark brown black hair, and has to be close to 6'4. The longer he stares the more I start perfuming the room smelling like fresh baked snickerdoodles and if we don't get this appointment going I'm going to be late to lunch with my mom and sister. After clearing my dry throat I try to talk, stuttering in the beginning cause im so fucking nerves it a little freaked out. "C..can we get the appointment going I've got a lunch date to get to."

I watch as he tries to get himself back together and introduce himself.

"I'm so sorry you're right I can't keep you here all day and I still have to work. My name is Dr. Rose but you can call me Kade " His voice is very deep and a zing goes straight to my clit. Fuck I'm in so much trouble with this one as I see his pupils dilate and nose flare as he takes in the scent of my perfume.

"Okay, since this is just an appointment to get medications approved through insurance from us instead of the children's hospital there's not much more. I will need to look at your joints so can you lay back? Also is it okay to touch you?" I love that he asked if it was okay to touch me. I nod and lay back, anticipation buring through me. As he takes my hand we both gasp as an electric zap goes through us. I watch as Kade swallows hard his adams apple bobbing. Once he finishes he sends the prescriptions to the pharmacy and as I am getting ready to leave he stops me with a hand on my shoulder. As I turn around to face him, I realize how close we're standing to each other and just one move we would be kissing. Which scares the shit out of me cause I like breathing. Fun fact about having severe food allergies do not kiss someone without knowing what they've eaten. My scent turns bitter, smelling like burnt sugar as I freak out of the inside. Kade notices and steps back to give me room to breathe with is hand stretched out towards me. It takes a moment to realize he's asking for my number and if I'm free for dinner to meet the pack and get to know everyone. I snatch the phone and call my number so I have his too. Then I am agreeing to dinner and bolting out the door.
