Chapter 1
Emma had always been prone to blackouts. She had learned to live with them, to work around them, but they never ceased to scare her. She never knew when they would hit, or what would trigger them. She had tried to ignore them, to push them to the back of her mind, but they were impossible to ignore.
As she walked down the street, she felt a familiar sense of unease. Her heart started to race, and she felt a cold sweat break out on her forehead. She knew what was coming, but she couldn't stop it.
Suddenly, everything went dark. Emma was plunged into a world of blackness, and she felt herself falling. She couldn't see anything, but she could hear the sound of her own breathing, ragged and fast.
She tried to calm herself down, to tell herself that it was just another blackout, but something felt different this time. She felt like she was being pulled into the darkness, like there was something waiting for her on the other side.
And then, just as suddenly as it had started, it was over. Emma opened her eyes and found herself standing in the middle of the street, surrounded by people who were staring at her in shock.
She looked around, trying to get her bearings. She had no idea how long she had been out, or what had happened during the blackout. She felt a sense of panic rising in her chest, and she knew that she had to get out of there.
She started to walk away, but something caught her eye. A man was standing across the street, watching her. He was tall and thin, with dark hair and piercing blue eyes. Emma felt a shiver run down her spine. She didn't know why, but something about him scared her.
She turned and walked away as quickly as she could, but she couldn't shake the feeling that he was still watching her. She felt like she was being followed, like someone was watching her every move.
Emma knew that something was wrong. She didn't know what it was, but she knew that she was in danger.
