The Beginning

*Eighteen Years Ago*

"Breathe baby, breathe!"

"Oh, shut up Jackson - I'm breathing! This is all your fault! You - are NEVER - touching me - AGAIN!" Caroline snapped at her husband in between catching her breath.

"Okay Luna, I'm going to need you to push hard one more time!"

And that was it. All that was heard in the delivery room were the cries of a newborn.

"Congratulations Luna, Alpha. You have a healthy baby girl!"

Looking down at her beautiful baby girl with tears in her eyes, Caroline simply states, "Welcome to the world, my little Adelina Grace. Your father and I will do everything in our power to protect you."

Caroline and Jackson shared a secret they didn't dare tell a soul, other than their best friends (and siblings) Beth and Trevor. A secret about their baby girl that would be the cause of their deaths one day. Little did they know how soon that day would come, leaving a legendary myth in their wake.

*Ten Months Earlier*

A large group of rogue werewolves were currently tearing through some of the smaller werewolf packs in the area on their way to Pine Springs Pack territory. Thankfully, Alpha Jackson and Luna Caroline had an alliance with the neighboring pack, the Shadow Elm Pack, the second strongest pack in the U.S. This alliance started when neither of the packs were as big or as strong as they are now. Jackson's father Martin, when he was Alpha, invited Robert, Alpha of Shadow Elm at the time, over to discuss terms of an alliance. Alpha Robert was also Caroline and Trevor's father. So, you can imagine the shock on their faces when they realized that Jackson and Caroline were mates, as well as Trevor and Beth, the daughter of Marlin's Beta and Jackson's best friend. This made the alliance even stronger. Since then, they became siblings by marriage and best friends over time. So, when Caroline revealed that she was pregnant, the four of them knew they had to do everything in their power to protect the baby.

When she was little, Caroline's mother had told her tales about powerful beings that were fated to be mates with werewolves to pass their power to a new generation. She also revealed to Caroline that she was one of those descendants, however, the magic in their family ran out long ago. Interspecies mating was not uncommon, so when rumors spread of Jackson and Caroline becoming mates, no one thought twice about it. Well, no one who had the power to do anything about it, that is. Unfortunately, these tales weren't without their predictions of the future and tales were told of a baby that was to be born from the joining of two very powerful Alpha bloodlines that was going to unite the world and be the strongest and rarest werewolf to ever be born. The tales that Caroline's mother told her were considered just that, tales that parents would tell their little ones before bed. However, no one but family knew about Caroline's ancestry and that's the way she intended to keep it. Before long, people started to wonder if the tales were true, and if Jackson and Caroline were the two Alpha lines from the stories. With that, rumors started to spread like wildfire, as well as the worries about what powers a child may have once Caroline conceives.

Once the rumors started, word got back to the Alpha of the rogue pack, Cole. He called back his wolves that were attacking the Pine Springs Pack and proceeded to wait. He decided that he would wait for the supposed child to be born before resuming his war path. He devised a new plan that involved the child. If it was a boy, he would be killed instantly. If it was a girl, he would have a member of his pack raise her until she was old enough, then he would claim her as his mate, claiming her powers for himself. A few months later, the news of Rogue Alpha Cole's plan for the child reached the Pine Springs Pack. Caroline and Jackson instantly became worried, as the news that Caroline was pregnant had started to spread like wildfire. Caroline and Jackson told Beth and Trevor what was happening, and they agreed to help as best they could. It was decided that the gender of the baby would be a surprise, as the fears of the baby's fate would consume them.

Caroline and Jackson decided that no matter what, Jackson's Beta would take the child to Beth and Trevor immediately, and they would raise the child as their own alongside their own son that was born four months earlier. They would use a stillborn to distract Rogue Alpha Cole long enough to wipe out the rogue pack. Caroline had felt with all her heart that the baby was a girl and immediately started to write her letters for each milestone of life she could think of. Starting with the letter that explains why she had to grow up without her parents and why Beth and Trevor raised her. Caroline wrote at least one letter to her baby every day of her pregnancy in the hopes that they would one day be reunited. Before everyone knew it, the day they were all dreading arrived. Caroline was rushed to the pack doctor and baby Adelina Grace was born. The new parents quickly said their goodbyes, as the nurse rushed to get the stillborn boy that was to be used as a decoy. Caroline used her powers to change the memories of everyone that was present for the delivery to prevent Cole from figuring out what happened. While Jackson and Caroline worked to cover the truth, a trusted Omega was on his was to Colorado to give Beth and Trevor the baby before quickly returning to assist with the ongoing battle. As he crossed the boarder back into the Pine Springs territory, he was surprised by a rogue and was killed instantly, eliminating one of the five people that knew the truth about the child.
