Chapter 1
Olivia "Ollie" Palmer, a young girl from London, transfers to Phoenix because her dad has gotten a big job offer. On her first day at an American high school, Ollie realises that her life will never be the same: new environments, new friends, love and enemies.
Maxwell “Max” Adams, the charming captain of the basketball team, is the guy every girl swoons over and every boy wants to be. Max, however, just wants to play basketball and have fun with his friends. But when the new girl from London, Ollie, becomes his partner for an English project, his priorities change. Max finds himself determined to get to know Ollie better.
Through trials and triumphs, Ollie and Max discover the strength of their bond and the importance of standing together against anything, as long as they have each other, their friends and family.

As I pull the curtains apart, the bright white light hits me like lightning. I blink multiple times to adjust to the light. When I turn around, I see my bedroom is lit up and my messy room is now highlighted. Clothes and moving boxes are lying around everywhere on the floor. Even though we moved in last Friday, I still have not organized everything in my room. Today is Monday, and it is also my first day at my new school.
I stand in front of the mirror and look at myself. I wear blue jeans and a white shirt. They're basic and neutral, so I won't stand out too much. Being a British girl in an American school is already too much. I put on the last accessories and head out of the room.
When I got downstairs, my parents were sitting in the kitchen drinking tea. The smell of tea hit my nostrils instantly, and I felt a need for a cup of tea immediately.
"Morning, Honey", my mum says. I approach her, taking a mug, and pour some tea into it. My mum looks so graceful with her sleek, dark brown long bob and her stunningly green eyes. I glance over at my dad, who is reading the newspaper, as he usually does. My dad is actually a handsome man, he is a tall man with a muscular figure. At first, my friends from London were scared of my dad, because he had the look of a thug with his buzz cut and his big muscles. But when you get to know him, he is just like a big child who likes to joke around. My mum, on the other hand, is so calm and approachable. I know I can tell her everything, and I always will.
"Dad, are you ready to drive me?" I ask. My dad looked up from his newspaper, then took the last sip from his coffee and stood up. "To where, Honey?" he asks jokingly. I roll my eyes and shake my head. "Drive me to school. It's not funny anymore, Dad".
I gather all my stuff from the floor and hurry to the front door. "Dad, come on now!"
I'm excited to begin my first day at the new school. I do not know why... Perhaps I am eager to learn how different the American schools are from the British ones. But on the other side, I feel my stomach churning, and when I think about the school, I get sweaty palms.
What if they do not like me? Or do they think I'm weird?
I quickly push the thoughts away. If they do not like me, then it is their loss. I am me, and I am unique.
And who am I? You might ask.
Hi, I’m Olivia Palmer, but I prefer to be called Ollie, and I’m 17. I’m originally from London, but my dad got a big job offer here in Phoenix, which he couldn’t say no to. My dad is a lawyer and my mum is working as a nurse. So now I’m here — a British girl starting in an American school.

This is the first chapter of my very first book. I hope you like it. Bear with me if the grammar is wrong because my first language is not English. If you see some mistakes, you are welcome to mention them in the comments, and then I can fix them.
I do have some ideas for this story, too. But if any of you have some. Don't be shy to write it in the comments.
