Chapter 1

Chapter 1

“Margarita for you ma’am,” the bartender says as he hands Anastasia her drink. She smiles, taking it. As she takes a sip of her drink, she moaned internally as the alcohol goes down her throat. She needed this.

She pushed her long brown, slightly curled hair behind her ears. She was exhausted from the long day that she had with back to back meetings. She was still dressed in her work outfit, with her high heels.

“Hi madame,” someone says coming up next to her. She turns to look at them and sees a middle aged man standing in front of her.

“I’m Andre. I saw you from across the room and I couldn’t resist not talking to such a hot woman,” he says and she could see that he was drunk.

“Sorry, not interested,” she says getting back to her drink but he put his hand on her thigh and moved closer.

“Oh come on. Don’t be like that. I can show you a real good time,” he says whispering close and she could smell the whiskey under his breath. She moved away because it was disgusting.

“I said that I was not interested,” she says but when he doesn’t back down but tries kissing her, she slaps his face. Hard.

He recoiled in pain. Everyone around them saw and laughed at the ordeal.

“You bitch,” he says but accidentally knocks over her drink.

“Oh come on! Not my drink!” she says getting angry. She clenches her palms, ready to fight this man.

“Leave. She said that she wasn’t interested,” an attractive man with bright green eyes, strong muscular body says in his slight French accent. He seemed to be in his late 20s to early 30s.

She slowly unclenched her palm.

“Go on. Keep moving,” he says and Andre was escorted out by the security.

“A drink for her please. On me,” he says to the bartender.

“You don’t have to do that,” Anastasia says looking at him.

“I know but I want to. You seemed pretty disappointed when your drink was knocked over. I’m just being a good citizen to someone to seemed like they deserved to drown that drink,” he says and he managed to make Anastasia smile softly.

He goes back to his seat, not to bother her. She called the bartender closer to her and she whispered something to him. The bartender nods, walking away as she sips on her drink.

She watches him go tell something to the man who helped her. The man’s eyes grow wild in disbelief and tried reasoning with the bartender but he would not listen to him. Anastasia finishes her drink and slips out before he could have the chance to come talk to her.

She sits in her car and drives to a nearby store where she buys a tub of ice cream and shops for some good liquor and some candies. She stalls in the candy’s aisle, looking at the candies that Shay loved.

Her eyes teared up as she imagined how Shay would grab the chocolates and candies and run to get it billed. She grabbed some of the same kind Shay would love and went to the billing counter.

As she made way into her apartment, she threw her shoes near her shoe cabinet and hopped in the shower. A quick shower washed away the dirt of the day and a bottle or two washed away the stress.

She passed out on the couch, like she intended to, after throwing away the bottles that she had given good purpose to.
