Summary

Under the influence of a greater force none of them can explain, the six residents of the Meadows are prone to mass hysteria from time to time. Still, they solemnly deny having anything to do with the two missing Yale students. Rather than looking at the old shed that ominously sits at the back of their property, or at the bloodstained rug on their living room floor and the broken trophy on their shelf, Nate Fitzpatrick and Stephanie Prado would rather tell you a story about Eros and the capriciousness of love. Nate is the captain of Yale's hockey team, the son of a financial criminal, and dead inside. Stephanie is a phenomenal storyteller, the daughter of the US Attorney prosecuting Nate's father, and was diagnosed with PTSD at a young age. They're Shakespeare being recited in an empty theater, a feeble mind, a Homeric hymn, childhood trauma. The laws of reason dictate they are to despise one another. The Assistant Dean dictates they are to be paired up for a lengthy project to overcome their difficulties. It is time that sees the hockey captain and the unfriendly waitress go from enemies to lovers, and it is Richard Fitzpatrick that sees his son as a pawn in a game he's desperate to win. Desperate times call for desperate measures, and illicit romantic trysts call for complicated feelings.

Sing in me, Muse, and through me tell the story

of that man skilled in all ways of contending,

the wanderer, harried for years on end...

“THE MUSES were nine in number, the daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne, Memory. At first, like the Graces, they were not distinguished from each other. “They are all,” Hesiod says, “of one mind, their hearts are set upon song and their spirit is free from care. He is happy whom the Muses love. For though a man has sorrow and grief in his soul, yet when the servant of the Muses sings, at once he forgets his dark thoughts and remembers not his troubles. Such is the holy gift of the Muses to men.”

"One day the Nine appeared to him and they told him,“We know how to speak false things that seem true, but we know, when we will, to utter true things.”

"...the God of Love, EROS. Homer knows nothing of him, but to Hesiod he is fairest of the deathless gods.”

"In the early accounts, Eros was not Aphrodite’s son, but merely her occasional companion. In the later poets, he was her son and almost invariably a mischievous, naughty boy, or worse.”

"Evil his heart, but honey-sweet his tongue. No truth in him, the rogue. He is cruel in his play. Small are his hands, yet his arrows fly far as death. Tiny his shaft, but it carries heaven-high. Touch not his treacherous gifts, they are dipped in fire.”

“The God of Wine could be kind and beneficent. He could also be cruel and drive men on to frightful deeds. Often he made them mad.”

"The worship of DIONYSUS was centered in these two ideas so far apart—of freedom and ecstatic joy, and of savage brutality. The God of Wine could give either to his worshipers. Throughout the story of his life, he is sometimes man’s blessing, sometimes his ruin.”

"...Wine is bad as well as good. It cheers and warms men’s hearts; it also makes them drunk. The Greeks were people who saw facts very clearly. They could not shut their eyes to the ugly and degrading side of wine-drinking and see only the delightful side. Dionysus was the God of the Vine; therefore he was a power which sometimes made men commit frightful and atrocious crimes.”

SEARCH FOR MISSING YALE STUDENT CONTINUES

Family Offers Fifty-Thousand Dollar Reward For Information on Henry Lieberman’s Whereabouts

On February 7th, authorities responded to a call from the Yale Police Department after Henry Lieberman, 20, was reported missing by one of his peers.

The Yale University student was last seen exiting his dorm at Pierson College on February 4th at approximately 5 PM. The Sheriff’s Department has since stated that a search of his quarters did not reveal any clues on the young man’s whereabouts. However, it did refute authorities’ initial theory that Lieberman left on his own accord.

According to a member of staff at Pierson College, all of Lieberman’s prized possessions remain in his dormitory, and evidence that he’d intended to return to his room after leaving campus that Wednesday afternoon has allegedly been found.

The Sheriff’s Department also stated in the press conference held on Monday that there was no sign of a struggle in Mr. Lieberman’s dormitory or the surrounding areas, but that the possibility of foul play has not been dismissed due to the student’s newly-discovered status as a supplier of drugs around the University’s campus.

Authorities and University officials alike urge the public to step forward with any possible leads on Henry Lieberman’s disappearance.

CONNECTICUT BUREAU OF CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS PLEDGES TO LOOK INTO DISAPPEARANCE OF FEMALE YALE STUDENT

Nancy Anh, 21, is the Second Yale Student to go Missing This Year

Public unrest continues after authorities announced the disappearance of Nancy Anh, a political science student from Yale University.

Nancy Anh was reported missing last Wednesday by the Head of her residential college after she failed to show up to any of her classes that same week. There are conflicting reports on when she was last seen but authorities have stated they have no reason to believe foul play was involved.

Those close to Anh have indicated she was under a lot of stress due to upcoming academic examinations. Although authorities have noted that most of her belongings remain at Berkeley College, the student’s purse, schoolbag, and passport are yet to be located.

Reports show this is the second Yale student to go missing in under a year. The University’s Dean, Alfred Milburn, released a statement in yesterday’s conference lamenting these unfortunate events and adding that “the University is working tirelessly to ensure the safety of our students.”

Authorities are yet to say whether they believe the two disappearances are connected.
