On with the story!
Callie sat there in the living room of the house she had shared with her husband Brad. She lost her husband in a car accident while he was on his way to the hospital for the birth of their twins. He never got to meet them as a drunk driver lost control and hit him head on. It killed him and the drunk driver instantly. Her best friend Abby was with her as she gave birth to the twins and was told afterwards about her husband. Abby and her husband Jack were there for her.
“Hey Callie, got everything loaded up in the car, we will get the rest done and shipped to the ranch once we get it done,” Abby said.
“Thanks Abby, I don’t know what I would do without you and Jack,” Callie said.
“You would be lost, anyways you will be home with your family soon enough and more love for the babies who I will miss so much,” Jack said.
“Me too,” Abby said.
“I named you both their godparents, you can come visit you know,” Callie said.
“We will come visit and we can video chat and all that,” Abby said. Callie looked at her babies in their bassinet.
“He never got to meet them, he was so excited about becoming a father,” Callie said.
“We know, he tried so hard,” Abby said.
“But that driver had to drive drunk,” Jack said.
“Good thing his family sent money for you and the babies, but we know it won’t bring Brad back,” Abby said.
“Nothing will,” Callie said.
“He lives on in these two little angels,” Jack said. Callie nodded and they helped her get them into their car seats and out to the car. Callie looked at the house one more time before locking up. She hugged them and got into the car and waved and headed to her family’s ranch in Oklahoma. She and Brad had settled down in Seattle because she had gone to college at University of Washington and met Brad and they got married and settled there. Brad had been a lawyer. She worked as his secretary. After his death, she handed the firm over to Jack who had been his law partner and they all hung out together. It was Brad’s idea for them to be godparents to their babies. Jack and Abby had taken her to the hospital because Brad was at court. He left and was coming straight there but got into the accident. She asked them to pack the house and sell it and she took what she needed with her in her car as she headed to Oklahoma.
