Prologue

The king of the Nefarious has many enemies, but this one is more dangerous than any he has met before.

In the darkness of the night appears a shadow, a shadow with so much darkness inside. Walking through the dark hallway of the king's castle.

The faceless creator has a long coat that hangs off its holders. A magical hiding spell is around the shadow's face so nobody can see who it is. The light of the moon shines on the floor as the shadow walks down the hallway.

Stopping in front of the king's quarters, the two guards that are standing in front of the doors are eminently alarmed by its presence.

Magic spills out of the shadow's fingers, sending one of the guards flying to one of the walls. The magic is invisible so nobody can see what is happening till it's too late.

Before the other guard can do anything, the shadow does the same thing with him, making him let out a loud groan as he is pushed against the wall.

When a kick against the door doesn't work to open it, the shadow uses its magic to open the door.

Pushing the two doors open, the shadow steps into the room, the shadow closes the door behind it. The shadow holds its hand over the gap that's between the doors and pulls its magic into its hand.

Using its magic, the shadow closes the gap between the two doors so nobody can come in without having to use a lot of magic with it. It will give the shadow enough time to do what it has to do.

Looking around the room, the shadow notes the bed that's against a wall. Running over to the bed, the shadow makes sure not to make too much sound, so the king doesn't wake up. While looking down at the king who is sleeping peacefully in his bed, unknowing of fate, that's waiting on him.

The shadow takes a knife out of its pocket and puts the knife that is in its hand to the neck of the king. Not seconds later, the knife gets taken out of its hand. The shadow didn't have a firm grip on it. It didn't think the king was awake.

Footsteps sound from outside the room. Banging sounds come from the door as people behind it try to open it. Now holding the knife against the shadow's neck, the king asks loudly, "Who the fuck are you?"

The shadow places its hand on the king's stomach and magic shoots out of its hands, sending the king flying into the air landing against a wall nearby. He doesn't let go of the knife, but lets out a low moan.

"Almost open." The words make the shadow turn its head to the door, only to realize the people on the other side have almost opened it.

The shadow gets up from the bed and looks around the room when it sees one window. Running to the window, the shadow opens it. Before climbing out of the shadow sends a blast of darkness to the king.

Turning its head away from the king, the shadow tries to climb out the window, but before it can climb out of it, the young king throws the knife at the shadow.

Instead of the knife hitting the shadow, it goes straight through, making the shadow disrepair into thin air.
