The dead sister

Bells rang. Crows caw. Just another Saturday morning. It was quiet. Too quiet. My twin usually wakes me up. Loudly. I got out of bed. Today maybe I shall wake my sister up. I went into her room. She was still in bed. Sleeping. Peacefully. I got a trumpet out off the floor and started playing. Loudly. “That’s odd.” I thought “she is usually a light sleeper. I knew it when we were camping two years ago. When we were nine. She didn’t sleep in the night because she would here the rain loudly. To me the rain was quiet but she said “I hear a lot more than you think. To you the rain is quiet but to me its like a thunderstorm to you.” That’s when I realized that she had oversensitive hearing. I ran over to our parents. They were still asleep. “Wake up!” I said “Alex hasn’t woken up!”

“Okay honey. Nice to have a lie in once in a while.” Our mother said

“Let us sleep Anna, we don’t want to be woken up.” Our father said. Okay so our parents are useless. I ran back to Alex’s room. I nudged her. She still didn’t wake up. But then I realized she was not breathing. “Mom, Dad,” I said “Alex is not breathing.” They did not come. I felt her chest. No heartbeat. I stomped to their room and the lazy things were still asleep. “Oi lazybones! Your other daughter is not breathing!” I shouted angrily. They woke up with a start. “Anna,” Dad asked “Is this a joke?”

“No!” I answered “Just check!” they ran to Alex’s room and I heard crying, a scream and I heard. “But-how?” from Mom. I ran to them.

“Why are you crying” I asked curiously. Then I realized why.
