Where The Root Lies

“Mr. Jung!!!” Secretary Park was panting as he literary ran throughout the mansion of the infamous business leader with severe temper issues.

“Mr. Jung...Please come out from where ever you are...we need to deal with this right now..or else we are going to lose the shares...”

Park Ji Min has been the secretary of Jung Hoseok for almost a decade now...but he is still not familiar with the unpredictable behaviour of his boss.

Compared to the past when they were quite laid back about the whole business ordeal...now they hardly ever get the chance to sit together and have a heart to heart conversation.

“Ahh...seriously...Hey Jung Hoseok..come out now!!!” he sat down on the stairs as he had been running over an hour now to end this hide and seek his jerk of a friend has started.

“Haha..Jimin-ah...just give him some alone time now..will you? Once he figures it out he will come out by himself. You know him...”

“Nope...I don’t know him”, Secretary Park hissed at Min Yoongi.“Before I die of age, I will die of heart attack...I swear. Jung Hoseook!!! Come out..We have to leave before it’s laate.”

“Hyung...How about you try calling him?” Jung kook was getting impatient too. He, having a sensible boss like Min Yoongi, was feeling bad as to why secretary Park has to run around the house just before they are off to sign an important contract with the Kims and when they have yet to discuss the final shares they will be signing the contracts for.

“Jung kook-ah...It’s okay...” Yoongi looks at Jimin. “Jimin-ah, Come here.”

Jimin was looking upstairs. He looks back at Yoongi, Gets up from the stairs and starts walking down.

“He has always been like this whenever it comes to the Kims.” Jimin sits down at the couch beside Jung kook.

“Well can’t help it...It is always saddening to get involved in a dispute with your best friends over the only memory they made together. To tell you the truth I’m not so happy either but we have to do this. It’s been too long...and the longer it stays like this the harder it becomes to let it go...” Yoongi stops talking when he sees a shadow upstairs near the balcony of the floor. It seems that Jimin and Jung kook haven’t noticed Hoseok yet.

“But even we have come in terms with this whole deal...why he is still not...” Jimin sighs heavily.

“You know what? Let’s go first. He will be coming when he calms down.” Yoongi urges the two of them to leave.

“Yes. Let’s Just go...It’s not like there’s only one car for us all...” Jimin Says as he start walking towards the door.

Just as Jung kook was to follow Jimin Yoongi stops Jung kook. “I will be back after a quick visit to the washroom. You guys go ahead.”

Jung kook nods and follows Jimin.

Yoongi gets up and starts walking towards the balcony upstairs.

“Hoseok-ah...” He finds his dear friend sitting near the stairs leaning on the wall.

Jung Hoseok had bags under his eyes. He looked so defeated in Yoongi’s eyes that he stopped at his track.

“Jung Hoseok...we have to do this.”

“...know...I know.” He looks at Yoongi. “But it is still so hard..? i don’t know how you can be so strong.”

“I’m not strong Hoseok-ah...You just need to wear a mask. So that no one will know...”

And for the first time...Jung Hoseok Heard Yoongi’s shaking voice in six years.

Ten years ago

“Yoongi Hyung...”Jung Hoseok screamed as he shook Yoongi vigorously to and fro. “Wake up...We have to meet them you know?”

“ummm..Hoseok-ah...5 minutes..I slept late last night..” Yoongi groogily pushes aside Hoseok’s hand.

“So did I. Now get up, or I’ll be leaving with Jimin and Jung kook.” He pulled Yoongi up and sat him on his bed.

Just as Yoongi was going to lie down again Hoseok screamed “Aahh...if you sleep one more time you will be dead...”

’Okay...OK...I know...I’m up...” a frustrated Yoongi walks towards the washroom.

“Ha ha...He will sleep on the way anyway...” Hoseok shook his head.

After Yoongi freshened up they were on their way to meet their friends, The Kim brothers. Today was the birthday of the eldest, Kim Seokjin.

“Taehyung-ah...We are here. What’s the situation over there?”, Hoseok texts Taehyung, the youngest.

“All ready here...Come up. Joonie Hyung and me, we are just outside the apartment door too.” Taehyung texts back at them.

They planned a surprise birthday party for Seokjin. All six of them gathered and after they entered the pass code to his house, they tip-toed towards his bedroom.

Just as they entered the bed room the power went out.

“Ahh...shit...scared me.” Hoseok whisper shouted while jumping towards Kim Namjoon, The Second Kim.

Everyone was startled when suddenly the light came back...and in front of them was Kim Seokjin...the birthday boy with a spacesuit costume...

There was a moment of silence before they broke into fits of laughter and started singing the birthday song.

“Happy Birthday to you... Happy Birthday to you... Happy Birthday Dear Seokjin-ah... Happy Birthday to you...”

They laughed hard as they started hitting him on the back, but the costume saved his back from any serious bruising from all those very enthusiastic slaps.

“Ahh...my babies...Thank you...thank you...I was just waiting for when you will arrive.”

Seokjin hugged each of them one by one.

“Namjoon-ah...let’s give him the present now.” Just as Seokjin was hugging and talking with the maknaes; Yoongi gathered Hoseok and Namjoon around.

“It’s so nerve wrecking...” Hoseok kept fidgeting in excitement.

“Don’t worry he will be happy to receive this. After all his brothers’ hard work is what he always appreciates...” Namjoon tries to calm Hoseok...but instead gets nervous with his own words.

Yoongi smiles at them. “Okay...let’s go.”

“Seokjin Hyung...” Namjoon calls him.

Seokjin was laughing with his younger brothers. They look at him. Jung kook, Taehyung and Jimin goes beside Yoongi and Hoseok.

“Whooaaa...again surprise...” Seokjin says jokingly.

Namjoon shyly goes over to Seokjin and hands him over a laptop.

“What is it..?” Seokjin asks, “Is the laptop my present?”

“Well..You can certainly keep that if you want. But the present is inside.” Yoongi explains while smiling.

Seokjin opens the Laptop and stops talking. He is shocked to see his role model’s name on an email address.

Bang Sihyuk, The best fashion designer in Korea, has addressed an email asking to collaborate with Kim Seokjin’s clothing line “Persona”.

He looks up at his brothers, tears in his eyes.

Everyone walks up to him and hugs him.

“You have always supported us towards our dreams. Now it’s our turn.”
