Prologue

England 1545

“The Huntington Family is more than well off. Just stick to the plan and all will be well. Trust me Peter. I know what I’m doing.” Estelle Huntington spoke her words confidently to the man that sat across the table from her.

Peter shook his head and spoke in low tones. “I don’t know. He’s your brother. Are you sure we can get away with this?”

“I know he’s my brother. And he’s a very estranged brother with an immigrant wife and child. The only reason he tolerates me is out of duty to my deceased parents. He doesn’t care about me!”

“Keep your voice down!” Peter whispered loudly. He looked around the dimly lit inn, making sure no one was listening to their conversation. Estelle was beautiful, very beguiling and desperate in her pleas to be free of her abusive brother. What she was asking him to do was commit murder and for her he could probably do it. But there was just one complication, the ten year old child.

“If there was any other way, I would do it.” Estelle reached across the table and took his hands in her own. “I’ll give you anything you want if you just help me.”

That sounded reasonable enough. There were many things Peter wanted. “Of course I’ll do it. I can’t stand to see you so upset.”

Estelle took a relaxing breath. “Thank you.”

“Your brother and his wife can be done easily, but I don’t feel right about killing the child.”

Smiling, Estelle nodded in agreement. “No. I can’t imagine doing that either. I could raise Natalya. In a few years she’ll be of marrying age and she’ll never have to suffer her father’s abuse and neglect the way I have.”

“So when should I do this?”

“Herald and Mariska will be entertaining Lord Gabriel Devall this week. He’s a young knight from Winchester that’s in London on business. I can sneak you in at night when everyone is resting and show you to their room. Just tell me what you need me to do.”

Peter reached in his coat pocket and pulled out a vile filled with clear liquid. “Put just a few drops in everyone’s drinks. Even the servants. Make sure no one sees you. Okay?” Estelle nodded, taking the vile from him. “I promise to make their end as peaceful as I can.”

She looked at him, eyes swelling with tears. “Thank you.”

“Don’t thank me just yet. Wait till we’ve gotten away with it. Now put that away and be careful with it.” Peter watched her do as she was told.

“Tomorrow night we’ll have a dinner in honor of Lord Devall. I’ll make sure everyone drinks this.”

“Remember, just a few drops. Too much could make them violently ill or worse. We just want them to pass out.”

“Ok. I’ll make sure. I’ll be waiting for you at the back of the house.”

“Then I’ll see you tomorrow night.”

Hi ,

I hope this message finds you well! I recently discovered your story, and I must say, it is truly impressive. Your writing demonstrates great depth, and I believe it would translate beautifully into a comic format.

As a commissioned artist specializing in various mediums, including comics, manga, character art (original characters included) and cover art, I see a fantastic opportunity to collaborate as a commissioned project on transforming your narrative into an amazing comic. I genuinely think it could gain significant attention and resonate with a wider audience.

If you would like to review my portfolio or discuss this opportunity, I welcome the chance to connect on Discord (Username - bennett_lol). I look forward to your response.

Best regards,
Bennett.
