Thana was a delinquent. So, she was sent to a school for delinquents. Nobody knew that the royals were going to be taken over by a bunch of vamps going rouge. But the biggest surprise for thana wasn’t the fact everyone was convinced that the world was going to end, but the fact that she might be saved by one of the people who are ending it.
THE PRINCIPLES OFFICE
“Thana, I don’t see why you think it’s a good idea to, once again, try to set the science block on fire” principal Asher said.
“There was a really bad rat infestation sir” I said while trying to keep a straight face.
“I assume you are talking about those lab rats that you let out of the tank” he said while reading the report my science teacher had sent to him.
“I don’t know what you are talking about” I say.
“You know very well what I’m talking about, I have a very important phone call scheduled for 5 minutes, so I’m afraid we will have cut this conversation short. I don’t want to have to speak to you again this week, okay?” he says while leading me to the door, like I don’t know where it is. I would be lying if I said I didn’t because I’m always in his office because I’m always doing something to get me in there.
When I’m out of his office I go up to my shared room with Lilah, she’s alright, I guess.
Not as much of a delinquent as me but she isn’t a goody two shoes either.
When I open the door, she looks like she just heard her hamster died which can’t be right because that was two weeks ago.
“lil what’s up, you look like you’ve seen a ghost?”
She just points at the tv with a shaking hand.
I go and sit next to her on our couch and look at what she is pointing at.
It was the news, there was a reporter looking devastated.
“We just got reports in telling us that the royals have been killed and that a bunch of rouge vampires have taken over. Anyone who doesn’t listen to them will be captured and set off into the royal grounds to be hunted.They will be going round and taking all the children and teenagers and turning them into vampires the adults will be killed other than a certain few who will be used to update the people of what’s going on.” and then I guess she couldn’t take it anymore because she starts yelling, “RUN, RUN, YOU HAVE TO GET OUT OF HERE SAVE YOURSELVES” and then the tv goes into static.
Lilah burst into tears, and I awkwardly put my arm around her.
“What is going to happen to my parents thana?” she whimpers into my chest.
“I don’t know but whatever happens I won’t let those stupid creatures hurt you, ok?” I whispered into her hair.
The fire alarm bursts into life. I quickly got Lilah out of our room and out onto the field. She heads off with her other friends.
Principle Asher was heading straight for me with a stern look on his face.
I put my hands up in surrender and say, “it wasn’t me; I was comforting my roommate.”
“Well, if it wasn’t you then who was it?” he asks in confusion.
“How am I supposed to know?” I question him.
Then I hear someone scream “THEYRE HERE, EVERYONE GET OUT OF HERE! NOW!”
Then I looked in the direction it came from. And that’s when I saw them for the first time.
And Lilah was captured in one of their arms.
I may be a delinquent, but I keep my promises. I charge straight for them.
I ran past one that looked around my age. He has black hair, and he had a bunch of earrings on. Black ripped jeans and a black buttoned up shirt that was only buttoned up halfway. We make eye contact and it’s as if the whole world slowed down. I was slowing down and then I figured it must be one of his weird vampire tricks, so I shook my head and speeded of again.
For some reason I looked back and he had a look of confusion and hurt on his face.
When I reached the other vampire, he was about to stick his teeth into Lilah’s neck.
I stupidly let out some sort of war cry because the vampire looked up and saw me.
“Well, you look a lot stronger than this twiglet, I’ll let your friend go, but only if you take her place.”
I nod and walk forward. He lets go of Lilah and she stubbles forward.
He grabs hold of me by the shoulders and pulls me forward.
I look out of the corner of my eye and see the other vampire turning around.
He sees me as soon as the other vampire bit down into my neck.
The last thing I hear is him shouting.
When I wake up, I’m no longer on the school field. I’m in a massive bed with black silk bed sheets.
I look around and I can weirdly see every dust particle and hear a bird tweeting somewhere outside.
When I finally look down at my body, I see that I’m no longer in my hoodie and jeans but I’m in shorts and a t-shirt made of the same silk as the bed sheets.
I get off the bed and go to the door. I tried opening it but it’s locked.
I look around the room and see another two doors. I go up to the closest one and open it.
It’s a ginormous bathroom.
I close the door and walk to the other one. I open it and gasp at what I see. A walk-in wardrobe full of black, dark blue and purple clothes. I picked out a pair of black skinny ripped jeans and a skintight black t-shirt. I looked around and found a pair of black converses and some socks. When I open another door inside the closet, I find a bunch of leather jackets I put one on and walk back out of the closet.
When I got out, I’m surprised to see the vampire that made the world go into slow motion, he was sat on the bed. When he saw me, he smiled and got up of the bed.
“Morning sweetheart, you slept for a while, I bet you’re starving.” he walks over to me and offers me his hand to shake “my name Zeke and I’m here to save you because the end of the world is coming and I don’t want you to get hurt when It comes, don’t ask me why I’m trying to help because I don’t know I just have this strange urge to protect you away from my brothers, although I do admit I’m doing a pretty rubbish job because he succeeded in making you one of us, so I’m sorry but can you please forgive me thana?”
“How do you know my name?” I ask.
“I just gave you a massive apology and that’s the only part you got?” he asks with a smirk; his face turns serious “I don’t actually know how I know your name; I just do it’s like its engraved on my heart or something.”
“Wait hold on a second did you say your brother achieved in making me a bloodsucker?” I ask. He flinches at the nickname but nods.
Ok thana so you’re now a vampire no need to panic, there is no need to panic.
“where’s my friend? “I ask realizing that Lilah isn’t here.
“You mean the one that you risked your life for? She is with my brother.” he says.
“With your brother? The one that made me into a vampire? There doesn’t seem anything wrong with that to you?”
“I don’t think you get what I mean, Shes with my brother as in they are dating, she is his queen, and he, her king.”
“What?” I ask in utter confusion “are you saying that my best friend is dating your brother?”
He nods.
I’m furious. I lung at Zeke but he catches me and pulls me into a hug. His bare hand touching my bare back where my shirt had ridden up a bit.
Sparks fly up my back making me shiver. He gasps and looks down at me with bright, blushing cheeks. You could clearly see he was embarrassed, and I’m sure my cheeks were as red as his.
And then suddenly I can see inside his head. What He is thinking and what He is feeling. And then I see something that surprises me. It’s me but around me is a shining gold tint.
“Is that how you see me?” I ask.
“What are you talking about?” He looks confused.
“you’re showing me inside your mind, right?”
“No, you must have mind reading powers.”
“Cool.” and I genuinely thought it was.
Then I carry on looking at his face and suddenly he has a mischievous grin on his face.
I suddenly see a kind off video of him walking into this room saying, “hey baby, what are you doing?” and he just carries on walking to the bed where I’m sitting. I stand up and he carries on walking to me. When he finally got to me, he gently grabbed my face and kissed me. He slowly bent me backwards onto the bed. And that’s when the weird video thing stopped.
I open my eyes and blink rapidly.
“What was that?” I asked him.
“That my darling was me pushing my thoughts into your brilliant mind reading brain. You see because you can read my mind and I’m guessing you can speak to me in it as well we can use this to our advantage. Let’s just not tell my brothers about this. Or Lilah because she might tell my brother. Ok?”
I looked into his mind and whispered the word ’ok’ in my head and pushed it towards him.
He stumbles back.” what was that?”
“I spoke to you inside my mind”
His face spread into a cheeky grin and suddenly I get the words “that is seriously cool” sent into my head.
“Did you just speak to me in my head?”
He nods.
“We can have whole entire conversations like this.”
He just nods. Then I got the words “I really want to kiss you right now” pushed into my head.
I raise my eyebrows. I push the words “then why don’t you” into his.
“Because you need to eat” were the words that came back.
