Chapter 1
Micah:
The day had been going by as boring as ever. I was getting really frustrated as different pack leaders spoke all at once on the matter that had been plaguing the world for a few months now. Female wolves from multiple packs round the world have been captured and taken hostage somewhere hidden. As the Alpha King, it is my responsibility to be on top of the case but I can't say I know what to do either.
We are all in a stalemate on the situation and many members of different packs are frightened beyond their wildest dreams. Some sleazy council men have the audacity to question my authority during this whole mess. How dare they.
The room was getting louder as each pack alpha tried to make their voice overshadow the other. It was quickly turning to chaos.
I growled. The sound as deep and menacing and it was quick to be effective as everyone in the room had become quiet.
"We are all aware of the arising problem in our society. You should all know that we are dealing with it as well as we can". Before I could continue, I heard a scoff sounding from my left hand side.
"Really? We have no idea what is going on and you just want us to what? Chill? How do you expect us to keep calm and trust the process when our girls are getting abducted one after the other?" Eileen said.
Eileen was the Alpha of the Crescent moon pack that resided near the waterfalls.
My pupils dilated and my eyes turned black as my wolf threatened to pounce on him.
The gasps quickly filled the room and suddenly everything went quiet. Everyone knew I despised anyone that tried to challenge me and talking to an Alpha, no less The Alpha King in that manner was a sign of challenge.
If looks could kill, I'm guessing he'd be six feet under already.
Sensing the danger and the thickness in the atmosphere, Eillen cleared his throat. "I'm sorry for my outburst my King, I just got carried away with my emotions".
"Anyway", My Beta Hermes spoke up, "We do have leads on the missing girls but aren't going to disclose it just yet till we are a hundred percent sure. However, we can say that this is all done by the Shadow Walkers".
Collective gasps filled the room as it became rowdy again. The different Alphas had all heard of the shadow walkers, either in books or through scary campfire stories.
"And you are sure of this fact?" Eileen spoke up again, voicing the inner thoughts of each Alpha in the room.
Hermes nodded his head.
The shadow walkers were an evil bunch. They were originally werewolves gone rogue for one reason or the other and over the years they had formed a pack and had been caught in multiple scandals round the settlement. Their elected Alpha was a strong ruler and had meddled with some dark magic, spreading its power to all of it's followers. They moved through shadows as their name implied and were really difficult to capture.
We obviously had no idea behind their motive but we were trying our best to find that out. We had successfully captured one of their people and he seemed to be a young one. Questioning had already been going on during this meeting and I had no intention of letting anyone else on this room know about it.
The meeting was finally called to an end and all the Pack Alphas walked out with their Betas as the spoke on the information.
Eileen stopped by my side and said when everyone else had left, "You are hiding something from the rest My King, but it is not my place to call you out". And with that, he left.
Eileen and I weren't to far apart in age and sort. He was also among the first six Alphas created over a thousand years ago. However, as the first, I held significant power over everyone.
'"Shall we?" My Beta called out to me.
"Sure". I replied standing up from my seat and walking out the door and straight to the dungeons.
Our captive was in a bruised and battered state. The addition of Wolfsbane and other additional mixtures of weakening potions had done its jobe greatly.
His wolf was suppressed and his body was healing at a ridiculously slow pace. My men really knew how to deliver when it came to this sort of thing.
The young man looked at me. He looked no older than eighteen if I was guessing right. His eyes were swollen and his lips were bruised and cut.
"How far are we on getting the information". I asked the men.
"He says he wants it all to be over and he'd tell is what we want. We got Quincy over to use his manipulative powers so we'd tell if he's lying or not". They explained and I looked over at the boy.
A few moments later, everything had been set up and the boy sat behind a one way glass room with Quincy. The boy had his hands chained down so as to prevent any surprise attacks.
"What's your name?" Quincy started.
"Harold". His voice came out shakily. Quincy nodded as to say he wasn't lying.
Still testing waters, he asked again. "And how old are you?"
"I'm turning nineteen this fall". He replied. Quincy nodded again.
"What did you come to do in this part of the hemisphere?" Quincy asked once more.
"My task Sir". The young boy replied.
"And that is?"
"To retrieve as much females as we could from this region". The boy's voice had turned monotone as if he were some kind of robot. His body became rigid and straighter as he spoke and his eyes glazed over.
After a few seconds, he returned back to his normal self. His eyes were swimming with tears as he said quietly,
"Help me".
