The Kingdom & The Lost Valley

“Mom, I am not going to that freaking old school. And why do we have to?” said Kevin.

“Darling, that’s for your own good,” said Mrs. Matthew

“Oh, come on, Mom!” Kevin whined.

“Kevin, do your packing as fast as you can and go check on Jason,” said Mrs. Matthew

“Where is he?” Kevin asked.

“He must be in his room as far as I know.”

“Fine, Mom.”

Mrs. Matthew was a kind lady. She had a sweet smile always glimmering on her face and brunet hair that fell to her waist. Kevin inherited his Mom’s hair and had handsome brown eyes. Though Jason and Kevin were friends, they were more like brothers. Jason’s parents died when he was an infant and as Matthews, being Jason’s Godparents took him in. Jason has lived with them ever since.

“What are you doing, Jason?” Kevin inquired entering his room.

“Nothing, I am feeling miserable,” replied Jason.

“Me too,” Kevin agreed.

Jason was tall and had brilliant blue eyes which shined whenever he had some mischievous plans going in his mind. He had blonde hair which appeared to be golden when the sunlight fell on it.

“I don’t want to leave this place,” said Jason.

“I am sure Mom is sending us to that boarding school because our stupid school has expelled us,” grumbled Kevin.

“This is the fourth time we’ve been expelled from a school,” said Jason.

“Yeah, the things we did were fun, but for the school, it was ‘breaking the law’,” said Kevin grinning

“Rylan needs you downstairs,” said Mrs. Matthew, walking into the room.

“Mrs. Matthew! You scared me!” Jason jumped.

“Sorry about that,” said Mrs. Matthew

“But why does Dad need us?” asked Kevin.

“Don’t tell me that it’s another memo.” Jason groaned.

“I have no idea.” Mrs. Matthew shrugged. “Come on boys, hurry up.”

Kevin and Jason ran downstairs. As soon as they entered the drawing-room, they noticed, at the far end of the room, Mr. Matthew on his armchair with two chairs opposite to him. Mr. Matthew was a strict man, with tidy jet-black hair that covered his forehead.

“Sit down, boys.” Said, Mr. Matthew

“It looks like we have done a crime, and now we are in a police headquarters.” Commented Kevin.

“Boys, I said sit down.” Mr. Matthew said firmly.

Both of them sat down in a hurry.

“We need to talk about something important. The school you both will attend now is in a kingdom named ‘Scarelastic’ and the school’s name is ‘The Alpha’,” informed Mr. Matthew.

“The what?” Jason lifted an eyebrow.

“The Alpha, it is one of the best schools across the world and it is really hard to get in there ---” Mrs. Matthew started.

“Because of its entrance exam.” Mr. Matthew interrupted.

“But we haven’t given an entrance exam for it,” said Jason.

“The point is that you both got admitted in Alpha without an entrance exam,” said Mrs. Matthew, looking incredibly pleased.

“But how?” said Kevin in surprise, as far as he knew they both weren’t that good to get admitted to such a school, especially in one of the best schools across the world.

“Because this time the school authorities have decided to admit some students in the school who have been trying for many years,” said Mrs. Matthew

“But we never tried getting admitted to that school,” said Jason.

“You both didn’t but we did,” said Mr. Matthew.

“But we never gave any entrance exam, we never went to Sacrelastic,” said Kevin.

“Both of you gave the entrance exam, for the past five years the online exams both of you have been giving thinking that it was for some other school was Alpha’s entrance exam which you both never passed,” informed Mrs. Matthew

“As expected,” said Jason under his breath.

“But why?” said Kevin.

“Because we want the best for you both,” said Mrs. Matthew

“Wait for a second, are we expelled from the school or not?” asked Jason in confusion.

“You both were expelled the day we were about to pull you out of the school, it’s a coincidence,” explained Mrs. Matthew

“You both can go now,” said Mr. Matthew

Jason and Kevin left the room and ran towards their bedroom

“I have never heard of this school or this kingdom,” said Jason reaching the room

“God knows from where it came from,” said Kevin.

“What’s the school’s name?” said Jason.

“The Alpha,” said Kevin.

“The……. Al…. pha,” said Jason typing on the computer.

“What does it say?” said Kevin.

“It says that the school was found in the 10th century B.C. by King Aaron of Sacrelastic and it’s situated in the capital city, City of Kings and has continued to flourish and educate young minds.” Read out Jason

“We are going to a school in a kingdom with a weird name and in a weird place, WOW!” said Kevin in a worried voice.

“Boys, we are flying to Scarelastic tomorrow,” said Mrs. Matthew entering the room.

“What!” exclaimed Kevin and Jason in shock

“But why so early, Mom?” asked Kevin

“Your class starts at first September, so you both won’t get time to explore the kingdom or Alpha and we need to buy your school uniforms and other supplies,” explained Mrs. Matthew

“Mom, there isn’t any need for this,” said Kevin trying to emphasis on the word any

“There is.” Said Mrs. Matthew announcing her final judgment “And go to your bed now because we are leaving for the airport early in the morning,” informed Mrs. Matthew

“All fun is gone in a day,” said Jason turning toward Kevin

“No, you will have more fun in Scarelastic,” said Mrs. Matthew leaving the room

“As if,” said Kevin looking at Jason

“GO TO SLEEP BOTH OF YOU!” shouted Mrs. Matthew from downstairs

“Calm down Kevin, let’s see what Scarelastic and Alpha have in store for us,” said Jason

“Calm down? Jason how can you even say that I am almost having a panic attack,” said Kevin

“Kevin, what is wrong with you it is not the first time we are going to a new school, seeing you like this nobody could ever guess you’re any kind of fun,” teased Jason

“What does having fun has so do with my reaction?” asked Kevin annoyed

“Really?” said Jason as his eyes shone

“Really!” said Kevin rolling his eyes

“Fine then, go to Mrs. Phelps, break the window and put cockroaches all over her house,” said Jason with a mischievous smile

Mrs. Phelps was Matthews’s neighbor, a nasty, little old woman who loves criticizing people and especially Jason and Kevin. She lives alone in her house with her cat.

“Great idea I must say, your mind full of mischief ideas all the time,” said Kevin smiling

“So, let’s move,” said Jason

“How are we going to leave the house?” said Kevin

“From the backdoor,” said Jason

“Let’s go,” said Kevin grinning

Jason and Kevin were all ready in their backyard with a jar full of cockroaches

“Jason check if Mrs. Phelps is at home or not,” said Kevin

“As far as I can see her cat is not there nor her car, so the coast is clear,” informed Jason

“Fine then, you keep guard, I will go inside,” said Kevin

Jason went towards the door whereas Kevin broke the window and crept inside the house. He let out five cockroaches in the bedroom of Mrs. Phelps and the remaining in her house.

“Little cockroaches do my work!” smirked Kevin and sneaked away

“Mission Accomplished,” said Kevin catching up with Jason

“Well done bro, let’s leave before Mrs. Phelps shows up,” said Jason

Jason in lead with Kevin was peeping from the backdoor looking around for any sign of Mr. or Mrs. Matthew.

“Come in,” said Jason slowly

As soon as they entered the kitchen, they saw Mr. Matthew coming from his bedroom and sauntering towards the kitchen. He spotted them lurking in the dark and looked from one to another in bafflement.

“What are you both doing over here, I thought both you were asleep,” asked Mr. Matthew looking at both of them suspiciously

“Yes, we were Mr. Matthew we just went out for some fresh air, right, Kevin,” Jason poked Kevin with his elbow

“Yeah, Dad Jason is right,” said Kevin

“You both better go upstairs and sleep, you need to get up early in the morning,” said Mr. Matthew

Both of them raced upstairs and eagerly waited to hear the screams of Mrs. Phelps
