Chapter-1 Those Green Eyes
Chapter-1 Those Green Eyes
How many people do you come across everyday? How many people do you remember at the end of the day? How many people leave an impression on you? And, how many do you wish you never met?
Many
A few
Maybe one or two.
So was she.
She always remembers that fateful day just like yesterday. All she wished, she hasn’t. Everyday for the past few years she was living that moment. Not out of love. Not out of misery, either. But out of pity, to understand could it be possible for the cause of those words. Isn’t every werewolf spirit longs for their other half. Their blessed one.
Yet, here she was still lost in those green hues of orbs.
6th April, 2013 (Flashback)
Just a normal day with the sun shining bright, birds chirping and people mingling with each other. Just an ordinary day at the campus of University of Sciences at Colorado . After a while she got a day to herself just to enjoy the tiny bits of the day though, usually she is swamped with classes or experiments. And top of it all they have people visiting from other parts of university for the festivals here at the campus. Though, she wasn’t taking the part herself but excited enough to see the new faces and acts today.
The university is attended mostly by supernatural species but few humans who are part of packs or born or related to us somehow come here to study. It is shielded by humans for protection reasons but, most respected universities which specialize in supernatural sciences with great faculty.
She was the youngest to be part of this institute in two decades. That was huge news for her and still a hot topic among the campus gossip mongers.
But this day was just not an ordinary day for her, something magnificent happened. Something she never thought in depth but always poked at the back of her mind.
Together with her friends she went to see the play - ‘Forbidden Fruit’. A play full of emotional turmoil between two mates, joined by fate, natural enemies but, love on stake. It was beautifully narrated, played rhythmically making the audience swoon at the characters and play of words. She loved every second of that hour’s play.
Love always wins. That’s the message that play outreached us with. They might be true love wins maybe not always but in due time it sure prospers and sure likely tastes like forbidden fruit. Well not to brag but the play was a total hit after that. Whoever watched it was just mesmerized by the beauty of its execution.
Though, as the day progressed so did the fluttering feeling too. It started yesterday itself and her wolf spirit was just in another world of its own. I was just happy and that never happened to her. When she was just happy to be. Is that her wolf doing or for the first time in life she felt free. Whatever this feeling was, she felt liberating nonetheless.
Later that day they played a few games organized for the students. Where she won a stuffed wolf, how ironic isn’t it? But, she loved every second of it. After playing some games taking tons of pictures she and her friends went to see the basketball match happening between their college team ‘The Hooters’ and ‘The Gladiators’. She had heard they are the beast on the court. Yet she couldn’t wash away the lingering feeling of something soon happening away.
They say reputation precedes you and follows you like a shadow. So does theirs, The Gladiators. They prove to be beast on Court and beast in their celebration too. What she couldn’t understand was why she was feeling their enthusiasm in gusto when her university team lost badly. Her wolf spirit was yapping in glee. The fluttering feeling of being ecstatic but, why was she.
Though, the reason was unknown to her. But, one of The Gladiators caught her eyes. He was tall, easy on the eyes and seemed like a powerful wolf too. Her wolf spirit was urging her to go forward and seemed like he was searching for someone too. Soon enough their eyes met, they bored in the depths of each other. His eyes resembled the forest after rain, dark green; apparently black yet deep with thirst og want. What she couldn’t decipher was confusion in his orbs brimming for answers. Answers for what?
Wish Mable knew. The answer was all along her sacrifice.
“Dr. Mable” the assisting nurse broke her reverie “their is a call for you.”
