Wanting to love it
"I really feel like the story is being dragged out. Wanted to love it but there’s too much back and forth with being together and apart. "
Interesting Plot, but Needs Editing
"This story definitely could use some editing. There are a ridiculous number of repetitive words and phrases. My advice is to remove every single usage of “sit there,” “sit here,” “almost,” “truly,” “whatsoever,” “eventually,” and “seriously.” There are some grammar and spelling issues as well and the formatting is odd. The dialogue is very unnatural and stiff. All the characters use the same awkward wording. Adding some word variety would help with this immensely. The plot is interesting, but could be summed up with the following two excerpts: “It didn’t take him long to eventually say something” “I felt like a broken record.” Overall, it reads like a student who is trying to get to their page count on an essay by adding “fluff” words and by repeating the same sentences over and over. Which, for me as a reader, really detracts from the plot."
Shallow plot
"This is not meant to discredit the author but using the same clichéd writing templates does not help. The older, mysterious brother with his secret crush has been repeated too often. Even if an author wants to use the same template, the story can be given more depth, character development can be done from new angles. Every character is different, the author can approach each of them separately, create their core characteristics, give them a unique mindset. The story here is predictable, the dialogues repetitive and unnecessarily long. Lastly, not every story is set in American highschools. Inkitt has some beautiful stories by Asian, Afrian and European writers who have successfully based romances in their native settings."
