Trying to be grown ups

It was a summer evening when Penny came back from her cousin Jimmy's house. "Hey! Penny come on your other relatives are also here." Said her grandma, who was annoyed by them, Penny was her favorite so she settled beside her on the carpet. "Hey grandma want to escape?" Penny asked her. "No sweetie than your mom will go on and on about how you are irresponsible." Grandma said slowly. Penny chuckled which was when the whole situation took a 180 degree turn.

"Penny we are thinking now you should get married." Penny's Mom said at which Penny got up real quick. "I'm sorry what?" Asked Penny. "I said its time you got married and you know settled down" her father this time said making Penny roll her eyes. "Yeah just like how Uncle John decided to get married the third time because he thought he couldn't manage on his own, but now look at him he is managing on his own pretty good by cleaning the house daily and by cooking each meal." Said Penny at which her Grandma laughed. "The girls'got point Tali." Said grandma to Penny's mother. "But i think aunt Tali is not wrong Penny what are you going to do, you don't have a job and certainly will need a guy to manage. " Said Penny's cousin Susan. "Look Susan not everyone is like you who would want a rich guy to survive and i would appreciate if you kept to your business. " Said Penny at which Susan scowled. "But Penny Susan is right you don't have a job and your father is going to retire soon how to you think you are going to survive and anyway even if you had a job you wouldn't have survived anyway?" Said her other cousin Laura. "She is right Penny." Said Penny's mother at which Penny had a shock expression. "Hmm.....so you think I can't survive on my own out in that world?" Asked Penny.

"Yes!" Her mother answered as she sipped her coffee.

"Hmm..... Okay so you think I am not capable of taking care of myself if i live alone?" Penny asked them at which all except her grandma nodded. Feeling shocked she got up and went in her room.

"Mom i am not marrying Harry!" Cassiopeia said with authority. "Sweetie but he is nice and all your dreams can come true like world tour or buying a cat–" Cassiopeia mom was cut by her"–kitten mom and I don't need to get married just to make my dreams come true." Cassiopeia stated. "Sweetie the reality is that your dad made a deal with them that they will marry you to their son, who loves you, and the debt we have of their will be forgotten." Her mom explained. At which Cassiopeia just looked at her with disappointment and retreated to her room.

They had departured from New York airport and Penny and Cassiopeia looked esthetic. "A new start." Said Cassiopeia. They had ran away from California, Penny because she wanted to show her parents that she doesn't need a guy to lead a good life and Cassiopeia had escaped the forced marriage and strike a deal with Harry's parents that she will pay the debt in a year, at which they had agreed.

Currently they were sitting in a cafe as they were examining a newspaper. They were apartment hunting. "How about we stay in a hotel." Cassiopeia suggested. "Sweetie we came here on a mission to make money not waste Money." Said Penny at which Cassiopeia sighed and started looking again. "Oh look i found one!" Exclaimed Penny at which Cassiopeia grinned, "you go girl till then I'll look for mine." Said Cassiopeia at which Penny nodded and left.

Penny was walking through the hallway of the building looking for apartment number 67. They owner of the building lived there. "Hello I'm um looking for apartment number 67 can you guide me there." She asked a guy who passed by her. "Sorry I haven't gone ahead of my apartment it's 56." He replied at which she just awkwardly thanked him and moved forward. After a struggle she finally found the apartment.

"Ma'am i hope you feel welcomed your roommate isn't really bright but he is a gentleman." Said Jack the owner, as he dropped her outside apartment 56. "Um this guy?" Penny asked and right that moment the door opened and revealed the guy she asked for help. "Ah Matthew this is your new roommate and make her feel welcome!" Saying this Jack left. "Come in, I am Matthew Cooper and this is my rented apartment, the right room is mine you can watch tv every Monday and Friday and you buy your own food. Okay no touching my food." He said and went in his room. 'well isn't this awesome ' thought Penny.

Penny had just texted Cassiopeia how she got the apartment when there was a knock on the apartment door. Penny got to open it to find no other then Cassiopeia. "Cassy!" Penny exclaimed. "I couldn't find one apartment well i did but i had to share my room with a guy and then another but in that apartment light and water wasn't provided, so I'm officially homeless." Cassiopeia stated as she was fidgeting with her bag keys. "Who is it blonde." Came Matthew's voice and soon he appeared in the doorway. "Hello there miss Burnett." He greeted her at which she mustered a small smile.

"Um Matthew do you any apartment my friend could settle in?" Asked Penny.

"Hmmm legally or illegally?" He asked

"Excuse me?!" Said Penny.

"Look my friend is looking for a roomate but her building owner won't allow so she is illegally foing it because in her words, 'I'm the boss of me' so do you want to?" Said Matthew. "Lets go and check out!"

Matthew knocked on Daphne's door for the tenth time. "Wait a minute you fucker!!" Came a feminine voice. "A way of showing love." Said Matthew. And then the door opened showing a girl in top and shorts with a hoodie on. "Um hey Daphne this is a girl who would love to be your roommate." Said Matthew. Daphne glared at Matthew and then looked at Cassiopeia, "what's your name?" Daphne asked her. "Cassiopeia Charles." Cassiopeia replied a little afraid. "Hmm.....do you know that this is illegal?" Daphne asked her. "Yes." She replied

"And if the police came after you what will you do?" Daphne asked her

"Run?" Cassiopeia said as a question

"Great your hired i mean you have passed the test and come in and no Matthew you are not invited and before you protest that your apartment building is too far, no its not, it's in front of my building. So go and goodbye." Saying Daphne closed her door on Matthew and Cassiopeia.

She again opened the door and pulled Cassiopeia in leaving her belongings outside and then shutting the door on Matthew's face.

"So there are rules living with me." Declared Daphne as she barged in Cassiopeia's room.

" 1. Always and i mean ALWAYS knock and come in my room

2. Dont enter my personal space

3. Dont touch my coffee buy your own

4. Last but not least never ever sit in the big comfy chair because that is my spot and no one sits there.

Every thing clear?" She asked.

"Do these rules imply on you too?" Cassiopeia asked.

"No!!" Saying this Daphne left as Cassiopeia unpacked.

'well it is going to be something living here.' she thought.
