Prologue
Elizabeth, more often referred to as Beth, was walking back to her apartment after a long day at school. It was late at night since her soccer team had just fought a hard game against their rival. The game ended 1-0 in overtime with Beth’s team winning. The streets were dimly lit with the occasional car lighting up the area. Beth made a turn to go down an alleyway which was lit only by the moon and the moon was barely visible past the buildings. When she was halfway down the alley, a man stepped into her path and another to block the other end of the alleyway. Both men were dressed in leather jackets with jeans. They both had jewelry and were covered in tattoos. The one in front swung a chain with a weight on the end in a threatening manner. The one behind her had an aluminum baseball bat and was hitting it against his hand.
“Listen girly if you don’t want to get hurt just hand over all your belongings,” The one in front said. Beth readied herself for a fight. The man looked about ready to say something when a look of surprise crossed his face just before he fell to the ground. Right behind where the man had been standing was another man. This man was much better shaven, much cleaner and taller than the previous man. The new one looked to be a high school student; he had tranquil blue eyes fluffy light brown hair and a cocky smile. He wore an untucked white dress shirt and black dress pants. He held a metal pipe propped against his shoulder.
“Funny story, so I was walking home from the meeting at the school, and I heard voices coming from an alley. I become slightly curious and discover it’s two punks trying to rob a beautiful damsel in distress, so as any fine gentleman would have done I grabbed a pipe from a junk pile and knock one of them unconscious. I don’t know why but for some reason I’m playing the hero and I hate playing the hero,” The guy said as though everything revolved around him. The other man decided this would be a good time to run away. Before he got more than two steps away there was a metal pipe whizzing pass Beth’s head into the back of the man’s head.
Beth’s savior walked up to her in a nonchalant manor with both hands buried in his pockets.
“Did you get hurt?” He said smiling down at her. Beth shook her head still surprised at what had happened.
“That’s good, I guess I should escort you home so you don’t get set upon by criminals again,” He said motioning for her to lead.
“That’s really not necessary,” Beth replied getting ready to leave.
“No I insist I mean look at how late it is,” He said looking at a watch he produced from his pocket. ”Holy crap I’m late!” The man said sprinting away.
Later at her apartment Beth decided it had all been a dream and that she hadn’t been saved by a random stranger but had rather simply daydreamed about the entire thing.
