Prologue:

It was a cold day; so cold, the people could see their breaths. In what was once a nice area of New York City has now become run down. Graffiti covered every wall. Many bums stood around a barrel that contained a fire, which strived to provide enough heat to keep each bum worm, for it seemed to be the coldest day of the year. Not only with the fire in the barrel, but with the woarn out jackets had they worn, had they strived to keep themselves worm. Suddenly, they’re attention was caught like a fish on the hook by an electronic billboard that showed the news. A beautiful black woman was shown from the shoulders up as she broadcasted.

“This morning, two young men, around eighteen years of age, were found dead a few blocks away from the liquor store they had robbed. This is the twentieth group of offenders who were found dead after committing a serious offense. The storeowner’s name was cleared by police detectives; however, the police detectives have no idea who the murders are. More after this.”

The screen showed the liquor store that was robbed by the two teenage boys. Screen showed people dressed for the cold weather passing by the liquor store walking in both directions. They all ignored the camera that made them appear on the screen of the billboard.

Suddenly the screen read channel 234 news at 10:00am. “You’re watching channel 234 news at 10:00am. Today’s date, January 10th, 2049,” said a voice that uttered from the speakers of the billboard.

Later on that night, in another part of the city, people walked about as cars were caught in traffic while on the roads. Horns constantly honked. Pedestrians ignored the sounds of the traffic as they walked about the streets. A cinnamon colored van was parallel parked in front of a jewelry store.

Territory, who was a middle aged man, sat on the driver’s side in a car while Kalvin, who was a young black man, sat in the passenger’s seat. Borus, who was Kalvin’s identical twin brother, sat in the back. All three men monitored and listened to the robbery taking place on the inside of the jewelry store. They all looked as the group of ski masked wearing jewelry store robbers stampeded out of the jewelry store, each exiting the store at top speed, not giving the glass door a chance to close on them. The desperate robbers occupied the inside of the cinnamon colored van as soon as the driver pressed a button on his license, which caused all doors on the van to open. As soon as the van took off. . .

“Now.” Territore said.

Kalvin pressed a button on a detonator he held, which caused the van to explode. It rained burning pieces of the van on the ground in the middle of the street. This shocked and frightened many innocent bystanders, for they did not expect an explosion to happen in the middle of the town.

“Hope we didn’t kill any innocent bystanders,” said Borus.

“I don’t think the robbers took hostages,” Territore said.

Suddenly, there were sounds of sirens. They all looked up and saw police cars and helicopters on their way to the ground.

“Authorities are here,” said Kalvin.

“Yeah, and we’re gone,” Territore said as he slid his drivers license through the slaught near the steering wheel, which started the car’s engine. Territore than took off in the car, leaving no clue that they’re behind the explosion of the van, that now sat stationary in burning peaces.
