A Dream

Lately, I have been dreaming the same thing every night. It is conflicting because it is the kind of dream you never want to wake up from but at the same it is so painful that it is not real.

A silent night in the woods is interrupted by a thunderstorm. Strangely, it adds to the calm of the night as I walk into our room. I see your silhouette on the bed, looking out into the lake amidst the tall trees. The golden highlights in your hair glow every time the lightning strikes. Your nightgown cascading down the curves of your body like a silky waterfall.

You smile and move the blanket, beckoning me closer while keeping your focus fixed on the window. I join you from behind, slowly wrapping my arms around and pulling you closer. The strap of your nightgown slips down, inviting me in to kiss your neck. An electric feeling travels down our bodies when I touch you through the soft fabric. I breathe up your neck and move towards your ear, inhaling your scent as I do so. Nibbling on your ear playfully, I sense your breathing quicken. I find your nipples hidden in the lace and pinch them, causing you to let out a soft moan.

All this while, your attention remains on the window and the sight of the rain falling on the surface of the lake beyond it. You refuse to look at me, as though I don’t deserve to see your ocean blue eyes and yet, I feel us getting closer. I feel the warmth of your body spread into mine. Your hair brushes against my face when the wind blows, giving me goosebumps. My senses are heightened but all I can see is you; all I can hear is your breathing and the soft moans escaping every now and then; Your intoxicating aroma fills my world as I slowly melt into you.

You take matters into your hands and start guiding me. Taking your breasts out, you shift ever so slightly, just enough for me to see them. I follow your lead and kiss them. I’m careful at first, almost afraid even. Slowly, I pick up the pace and you stop suppressing your moans. My hand moves up your thighs, gently caressing them, only to find your hand already there. You move out the way and let me take over.

I feel our bodies combine as my fingers go deep into you. It’s as if the fabric between our skins has disappeared. I follow your gaze and look out the window. There is a surreal moment where our bodies are flushed with heat, our breaths are wild and chaotic; it’s anything but peaceful and yet, it’s the most peace I have experienced in my life. We gaze out at the rain as the moment seems to last forever until it’s interrupted by lightning. The lightning strikes down along with you. Your body gives in and falls onto mine as you let out a loud moan.

Only, I couldn’t hear the moan. I couldn’t hear the thunder that came with the lightning. I realize that I can’t hear the rain either. In that moment I see them, your eyes, glimmering like the stars. The deep ocean in those eyes beckons me as I dive deeper and deeper. Then, we share a kiss that wakes me up into reality.
