Ch. 1
He sees you from the balcony where he was sitting and watching - away from everyone at the ball. You’re walking up the stairs in your beautiful black gown when you suddenly felt eyes on you. Chills ran down your spine as you stopped to look up to see him staring.
It was Taehyung. His stare bore a hole through you and for a moment you thought you saw his gaze travel down to your exposed back, but you didn’t want to believe it. He’s too beautiful to ever be interested in someone like you. After all, you work with him and the other six members. Shaking off the thought of him staring at you with meaning, you averted your eyes back to the staircase and proceeded to walk up until you reached the landing.
You walk over to the side to rest your hands on the railing as you look down at the crowd below and smile. You know everyone, you love them all. Working with them all these years has given you the chance to get to know them well to the point where they all feel like family. The moment would have been wholesome if you didn’t feel uncomfortable, though. The gown you’re wearing was given to you by your parents as a gift. They knew that you were having a company ball, so they went out of their way to get you something to wear. You also knew that you wouldn’t have gone had it not been for their gift. As much as you loved your co-workers, you also loved peace, quiet and solitude. Still, you look down at your parents’ gift and smiled to yourself.
They have excellent taste! You thought as the black chiffon elegantly draped from your cinched waist down to the floor. The top half of the dress only covers the front side - a modest Sabrina-neckline silk top with two thin spaghetti straps. To keep me from flashing everyone. Thanks, mom and dad. You loved the gown despite how much of your back is being exposed. It’s light enough, especially for hot summer nights such as tonight.
