Prologue
When I walked into this place I knew that it was where I was meant to be. Life has a funny way of working itself out, because I would have never come here if it weren’t for my years of social isolation that forced me to put all my effort into studying. I was meant to go to them, the enemies. It had been my parent’s plan all along. They had my whole life mapped out, almost all the way until my death. But life laughs at our plans and scoffs at our attempts of making them reality; it humbles us by changing our course without our consent. It was when I stood at the top of the hill and looked down at the rugby field, for the very first time, that something in me shifted. I felt something that I can’t explain.
It was that same rugby field that would see us get absolutely demolished by them. Year-after-year; heartbreak after heartbreak. Can you imagine putting everything into something only to find out that you were nowhere near the result you wanted? Standing and scratching your head wondering where you went wrong? Questioning each decision you made up until that point, and wondering if any of them were the right one.
But there was something different in the air this year. Our bond was stronger than ever, I could feel it. This was more than a game; this would be our legacy, or so I thought.
