Prologue

PROLOGUE

The crypt was dark and cold, dusty from being shut down for a millennium, it used to be a lively place, now no more. Klanath closed his eyes like this, he could almost imagine hearing the thousands of beautiful sounds of the tortured souls his master had sent to the underworld, the screams and groans had fed him constantly making him a stronger servant to his master.

Klanath stared at his gnarly fingers in distaste, since his master's entombment he'd been forced into starving himself, else those sentinels would find his whereabouts and kill him before he could bring back his master.

But no more, Klanath was looking forward to gorging himself after he'd raised his master from his millennial long slumber. Tonight will mark the beginning of a new world. Physically Klanath felt weak but his enthusiasm made him feel stronger. He'd used the last of his magic to lure all twenty one of these miserable souls here.

Fourteen were women, seven men. All tied up with ropes binding the head, hands and feet together, and placed strategically in a circle surrounding the sarcophagus containing his master's body.

“Master your time for dominion has come, you must arise and claim what is rightfully yours.” he chanted more words in an ancient language older than time. Before he alighted the unconscious humans with fire.

Klanath welcomed the screams and smell of burning flesh with a hysterical laughter as fond memories flooded him. His eyes watched gleefully as his gnarly hand and old saggy body turned young and healthy once again a second before a hand thrust forth from the sarcophagus.
