Prologue: Her Mortal Enemy

Seventeen Years Ago…
Mysagi Holt, Kingdom of Enchanta Divine
A silhouette ran through a forest of towering indigo trees and lush lilac grass. The slender figure in a purple cloak pulled down their hood. She was a young woman with dark bronzed skin, inky tousled hair, and sparkly lavender eyes.
She came to a halt.
In her arms, she held a newborn girl wrapped in a snowy blanket. The infant had raven ringlets, a caramel complexion, and a cute button nose.
The woman’s body became tense when wetness hit the top of her head, and an intense scent of honey filled the air.
Pitter.
Patter.
Golden raindrops drizzled from the misty green sky, and the woman hugged the child close to her chest and bolted off again, protecting her from the harsh rain.
Time was running out.
Moments later, she stood in the middle of the forest and kissed the baby’s forehead and cheeks. Electric violet tears cascaded down her face.
She retrieved a white flower necklace from her pocket and placed it on her palm. It gleamed the colours of the rainbow as she hovered it over the newborn’s head.
“Keep her safe. Let her grow powerful and wise,” she chanted. “Bring her majestic hopes and dreams. Make her wishes come true. Bless the mystic divine heir.”
The baby glanced at her with curious chestnut eyes. A whirlwind of scarlet red ascended from the waterfall, and she tucked the necklace into the blanket.
“I hope you’ll forgive me, my dear darling. Love you eternally,” she whispered. “Farewell. We will meet again one day.”
She enclosed the newborn in a giant pink bubble and dropped the baby into the disappearing whirlwind.
Wiping her tears away, she swirled around to see that her mortal enemy had arrived.
Chalky, stone-faced men wearing lime cloaks stared back at her with their hollow, shadowy eyes.
A lanky, broad-shouldered man dressed in a grey cape emerged from the group. With a dark, thorny crown planted on his navy mop of hair, he marched over to her.
“You can’t escape me, you fool!!” he shouted. “Where did you send the cursed child?”
“It’s a secret I shall never tell,” she said. “You’re not the only one who likes to hide the truth.”
“Listen to me carefully. You’re making a grave mistake, and there will be deadly consequences if you don’t tell me right this instant. Now speak!”
“All that envy and hatred. Are you not ashamed of your hurtful actions?”
“Who are you to question my authority? You are nothing. I seek the truth, and I shall find it.”
“Kill me first. She is forever protected.”
He smacked her around the face. “Silence, you fool! How dare you mock your rightful King?”
She gazed up at his cold crimson eyes and smirked. “You murdered innocent people, you monster! You deserve no respect or forgiveness, Kireo! Remember my words. You will regret all you have brought to this sacred land!”
“Your reckless actions only make you suffer. You have already betrayed me twice. I sentence you to heavy punishment for your treachery.” He shoved her onto the grass and pointed at her. “Seize her!”
His sinister clan grabbed her and carried her away. She didn’t even try to fight back. She had completed her mission, and she knew what would happen next.
