The island caught the current and they looked at each other knowing as long as they stayed together they could relax for the distant foreseeable future. The recent past had tested them all and no matter what others tried to convince them of, none of them could see a way to be a part for long. Even in such a small number they knew it would be nearly impossible for anything to tear them apart and so planning the near and distant future negotiations could begin in earnest even as much as the others hated them there was little or nothing they could do that wouldn't cost them far more than just accepting. They each looked deep into the others eyes and then to the horizon. Their boat could be used if nothing better presented itself but it needed so much work even a few nights to refresh would get the work done that much quicker and they wouldn't need be tied to this floating island of the locals.
