In The Beginning...

Long ago, before the world was created before the gods were born, there was a woman, a mother at heart, and a ruler born. She lived in darkness with random bursts of light exploding around her. These lights were the birth of different universes and she adored each universe equally. She spent every day sitting on her throne of space in silence watching as each universe grew. She watched kings and queens rise and laughed at the mistakes they made. She watched as parents would sell their kids for a better social rising. She shed tears for those kids who had no control over their own lives and she cursed the parents who took away their free will. She watched people murder, lie, cheat, and steal. She watched as they survived but sold their soul to last just another day. The woman also watched as people fell in love. These universes were her favorite, where people were free to choose who they loved. She would wish for love herself but she knew that there was no one but her in this area of time and space. So she settled for secondhand living, to experience the overcoming joy of giving yourself wholly to someone made just for you. She cried silently as she desperately hoped for that one day.

In a branch of time and space from the woman was a man. He was lonely and constantly searching for a spark of happiness in his life. He spent his days sitting on his grand throne while searching the universes for anything. He wasn’t sure if he looked for war, a thrill, or an escape. There was no one to direct him on how he was supposed to spend his endless time. This never-ending loneliness led the man to despair, he gave up on his search and sat on his throne, empty. He had never felt such nothingness in his existence. He remembered how proud he was of conquerors and rulers, how he felt bad for the peasants of the world, and the sorrow he felt for others but he couldn’t remember feeling hopeless. This feeling was destruction itself, destruction of the mind, body, and soul. Lost in himself he let out a ravaged scream and curled in on himself and tried to hide from the nothingness haunting him.

The man didn’t know that his scream out of despair reached the woman. She heard the man and felt his pain. She felt how empty he had become, and she realized that she needed to help this man. She relentlessly searched the multiple universes around her but not a single one revealed this man. She continued to search and search as the screams became more frequent. They haunted her and echoed in her head. As her search proved fruitless she sat back on her throne to think and strategize. While she tried to come up with a plan the man’s screams became quieter and did not happen as often. The woman knew that she was running out of time and kneeled in front of her throne. In a desperate last try, she gave a guttural scream and pushed her power into time and space. She sent her hope to the man and told him that she was coming for him. Neither of them realized that the woman was creating a door between them and soon all she would need to do was open it.

The man was silently screaming when he felt it, hope. He couldn’t place where it came from at first but then a lovely voice spoke to him. The voice was the most beautiful thing he had ever heard and caused the man to look up from where he was curled up. He saw a bright light where he could only assume the voice originated from. Now curious he slowly stood up and walked over to the light with shaky legs. The man hadn’t used his legs in what felt like ages and he collapsed in front of the light. Tears streamed down his face as the voice spoke to him again,

“Hold on a little longer, I’ll find you.” He sobbed as hope refilled him again. He reached out and grasped the light and sent over his message.

The woman pushed her power again and tried to speak to the person. The screaming had stopped a bit ago and she only hoped that her words made it to them before it was too late. Just as anxiety filled her a voice filtered through to her.

“Thank you.” That’s all he said, she was sure it was a he. She was overjoyed that she was able to save this man, that she was close to finding him. She reached out to grasp the small orb of light that her power created. As she grasped the orb something close to a miracle exploded around her. Her small empty place of time and space disappeared and was replaced with lush green grass. In front of the woman was the man. He had tears down his face and was grasping her hand. A look of astonishment lit up his face just as she lurched forward to embrace the man.

“You’re ok, I thought I lost you for a moment.” His arms wrapped around her and she was filled with joy and love.

The man was confused but also grateful. He didn’t know where they were or even how they got there but he was glad that they were there together. He was used to being alone, but he also hated being alone. The suddenness of having someone there, hugging him, was a welcome change. He couldn’t name the feeling that he was feeling but he embraced both the woman in front of him and the new feeling that warmed his blood.

“What is your name?” He asked the woman. She pulled back slightly to look him in the eyes. Her eyes were the glorious color of aqua seas that met blue skies. Her curly black hair draped down her back and shoulders looking like the room of emptiness he had spent his whole life in.

“Ocenia, and what is yours?” Ocenia was shocked that the man had asked for her name, she wasn’t even sure if she had a name and came up with one on the spot. She was curious to know his, wondered how it would feel to say. The man before her was handsome with warm brown eyes speckled with greens, blues, and gold. His hair swooped across his forehead in a mess of blonde gold. He looked a lot like the kings she spent her whole life watching.

“Solian.” Ocenia and Solian smiled at each other. It was at that moment that Solian put a word to this new feeling he felt, it was love. He loved this great powerful woman who saved his life and created a whole new world. Ocenia felt the same way about Solian and felt the love she felt for him take over. She had watched moments like these her entire existence but watching and feeling love were different. Ocenia knew she would do anything for Solian, but she also knew that he would do the same for her.

“What shall we call our new home?” Solian asked for his love. He felt that it was only right that she named this new universe since she was the one who created it.

“Amorous, after the love it took to create it.”
