Sub Urban_-_Cradles

BUG. There was a bug on her book, not sure where it came from and even though it wasn’t hideous, it was triggering.

She stared at it intensely, completely zoning out of focus from class, not that she was following anything that was being taught anyway. Her mind was a mess of thoughts.

There was something that she just couldn’t put in place; Her older sister’s ongoing stomach bug.

It had been close to three weeks since her sister started throwing up. First in the mornings, moved to evenings too until it happened in anytime of the day. Any bad scents would get her to throw up, eating some foods and even just the sight of them. She searched on google about such a symptom and the result was pregnancy.

She confronted her sister about it but she denied, saying that it was a false allegation. There was no fighting her in this one because she didn’t even have a boyfriend. The question still remained, if it wasn’t pregnancy then what was it?

She didn’t have the answer. It was maddening.

And also with the fact that her sister refused to seek medical attention, she couldn’t help but feel drained. The whole thing that was going on took most of her happiness and energy. She didn’t like it one bit when she started overthinking. It ruined her little bubble of good vibes.

“Sir, May I please be excused?” she raised her hand.

The gruff man just huffed and gestured her to leave carelessly. She jumped on her feet and ran to the girls toilets. She closed herself in one of the stalls and took her goods out of her pocket.

She closed the toilet seat, and spread a dollar bill over it ignoring how unsanitary it was. Carefully, she streaked two lines of white powder on it and used another rolled up dollar bill to snort it directly into her nose. Cocaine, an instant neutraliser. She felt better after taking the dose. Her little bubble of good vibes was regenerated again.

She cleaned up her goods and returned them in her pocket. Leaving the stall, the bell rang at the same time. School was over. She made her exit into the hallway and never bothered to return to class to get her textbook. She grabbed her backpack in her locker and headed for the parking lot to look for her special someone.

He was there, standing by his bike. She ran over and hugged him from behind. He smelled like cologne and faded wisps of weed.

“Hello gorgeous,” he turned around and pecked her cheek. “I missed you.”

She pouted, “Let’s hang out today.”

He chuckled at her cute stunt and kissed her lips. She responded eagerly and clung onto him. Had not somebody coughed a few feet from them, it would have turned into a make out session.

“Sorry. Can’t hang out today but weekend I’m all yours. Promise!” he held her smaller hands in his.

“But I never get to spend much time with you these days babe.” She whined bringing out her cute puppy eyes that were effective.

“I know. That’s why I got this to keep sadness away.” He reached for some goods in his pocket. A small packet with two white pills decorated with the 2D crystalline shape of snow seen in all animations.

She took the packet from him and put it in her pocket. He kissed her one last time before he hopped on his bike and left. She herself also found her way home, eagerly anticipating her arrival to use her new drug.

The house was empty. Her sister was at work. And it was the perfect time to use it. She frantically took the pills from her pocket and popped them in her mouth. She didn’t realise that her boyfriend hadn’t told her how much to take until after she had swallowed them.

Oh well, she shrugged. What was done was done. She threw herself on her bed and stared at the ceiling. Couple minutes later it started to snow, inside her room. The effects of the pill were kicking in.

She sat up and a wave of dizziness hit her. She tried to stand up with her head still spinning and when she had successfully planted her feet on the ground, it started moving. She tripped many times on her feet as she was trying to get to the bathroom after feeling the sense of nausea tiptoe.

The room wouldn’t stop moving. The snow wasn’t stopping either and she was starting to become cold. She exhaled. All oxygen seemed to have completely drained out of her lungs and her heart stopped beating momentarily, then she inhaled. The air rammed back in her lungs, nourishing and satisfying, it sent sparks that tickled her brain.

She smiled.

Like any other junky, she was loving it. The ceiling above her turned into a sky full of stars. It was beautiful. All things outside her room ceased to exist. She was in her own sensational world. She lost track of time and even track of being physically in touch with herself.

She didn’t notice when she started foaming at the mouth. A foam tinged pink with blood. Just that her eyes were heavy and her breathing slow than the average normal. Her whole body was stiff. It’d entered a different kind of paralysis.

The kind were the body was completely numb. All that was left was to succumb to the darkness that was calling her.

And that she did…
