Chapter 1. Secret Meetings

I sat there in the fields, making the roses bloom and vines grow. "Kore!" Rosalind, a flower nymph, called. I looked up, "Yes?"
"Demeter wants you back at the big house. Dinner is ready." I got up, "I will be there soon. I just have to finish this row of roses." Rosalind looked at my hands.
"Demeter is overworking you again, isn't she?" I bit the inside of my cheek and nodded. "Your hands are green as Gaea, Kore. You need a break."
"No. I don't want to disappoint Mama again." Rosalind sighed, held my hands, and looked at me directly in the eye.
"Please, at least take a ten minute break. Your like a sister to me, I'm worried."
Rosalind was a few months older then me. I'm nineteen but she treats me like her baby sister.
"Alright. I'll take a three minute break." "Kore!"
I sighed, "Ten minute break it is." Rosalind smiled and hugged me, "Demeter is like a mother to me, but she can be a real sometimes."
It shocked me because I've never heard Rosalind swear before, "Don't damage yourself because you want to make Demeter proud. You do you." She pat my head then left.
I looked down at green my hands and ignored the agonizing pain in them as I grew more roses.

I sat on my throne, bored out of my mind. "Hecate, I will be leaving for a short while. Watch Cerberus for me please." Hecate, one of my closest friends, nodded. "Going to see her, hm?"
I felt my face heat up slightly. "Shut up please and thank you." I got up and left the throne room.
As soon as I left the underworld, I felt more relaxed. Being the king of the underworld is hard. Especially ruling alone..
"-You do you." A voice said. I hid in the shadows as I watched Kore talking to a flower nymph. The nymph left and Kore sighed before looking directly at the shadows, as if knowing him there.
"Hades?" She mouthed. I smiled.
Stepping out of the shadows, I opened my arms and she ran into them, hugging me.
"I missed you, my love." I whispered, kissing her head and holding her against me.
When I'm with Kore, I feel complete. Whole. Happy.
Even loved.
