Part 1
It was one of those things where you never know what you’ve got until it’s gone, except, perhaps, you did know. In this case, it was the cool refreshing breeze of spring, but too much cold is very annoying sometimes. Now, however, spring had died and summer had arrived bringing with it the relentless heat of the burning sun, but it wasn’t entirely relentless, it just felt like it was. Bianca Cynthia Lune Blakesley (a name which means “white moon goddess moon black wolf”) was about to realize that this summer was going to be a summer unlike any other, unless, of course, it turned out to be a completely normal summer after all.
It’s hard to explain, but easy to explain, the origins of this mysterious ordinary girl. You see, Bianca was so sure that she was a human just a year ago (spoiler alert: she wasn’t), but now she was living in the woods with a bunch of wolves. Why wolves? Well, that is because Cynthia was and still is, by the way, secretly a Werewolf. There was plenty of hassle and a dear life was lost (poor Jacob) in the form of Bardolf’s little brother, Jacob.
After Cynthia nearly got married to some rich dude named Allen Bellerose on the night of her birthday under the full strawberry moon, she realized something. She had forgotten to take what she thought was anxiety medicine, but it was actually medicine to prevent her from transforming into a wolf. Because of that, she transformed into a wolf on the night of her wedding. There was then the hassle of accidentally marrying both Allen AND Bardolf and the two like, totally hate each other.
Anyhow, in the end, but clearly it wasn’t the end because here we are again, Bianca gave birth to twins. She named one Werewolf pup Allen and the other Jacob in honor of the fallen brother. We still are uncertain as to whether they are actually Bardolf’s children or if they belong to Allen, but regardless, they are alive and growing. That’s where the story of Bianca’s crazy summer sunshine adventure came to play.
“Bardie,” Bianca said in a sweet tone, (that’s her nickname for Bardolf, apparently) but not literally sweet because how can a tone be made out of sugar or sweetness?
“Yes, my love? Is something the matter? Do you need me to watch the pups?” Bardolf asked, walking over to his wife quickly, but not too quickly.
“I was pondering for quite a bit, very curious like, you see? I was wondering, do you feel that the sun is a bit too hot? Like, perhaps, hotter than normal? It can’t be just me, I am sure. With your black as a dark cave fur, I was hypothesizing that you must feel the heat even more harshly than I do,” Bianca said.
“You make a good point, my dear sweet Bianca. Do not worry about me so much. I am quite used to the harsh sun. Though, you do make a good point about the sun being hotter than normal. I believe this is at least a little abnormal for the summer temperatures to be THIS high. As for the pups, are you keeping them cool?” Bardolf asked.
As Bardolf was inquiring about his children, the two young boys came bounding over. Although they were merely a year old, they had developed fast as they are Werewolf babies, or, at least, half Werewolf. As stated previously, it isn’t certain who their father is and if their father is Allen, they are not pure Werewolf. In technical terms, these Werewolves are more like Lycans as they can transform at will as long as it isn’t full moon.
“Daddy! Daddy! Have you come to play with us, daddy? Or perhaps teach us the intricacies of hunting?” Jacob asked before tripping and tumbling the rest of the way over to his father.
“Careful, Jake. I would hate for you to get injured. You are alright, aren’t you, my son?” Bardolf asked, helping the child up.
“I think I am alright, father. My legs don’t appear to be broken. However, I do appear to have a new bruise,” Jacob replied.
“Nah, Jake is never going to be alright, father. Have you seen him? He’s such an Omega. That’s what you call bottom tier wolves, correct?” Allen asked.
“Who told you these things, Allen? Of course Jacob isn’t an Omega. He is my son, after all, just as much as you are. With my strong genes, he’s sure to be just as much of a Beta as you,” Bardolf replied with a smirk.
“Me?! A Beta?! No way, father! I do believe you are misled in claiming this as a fact. I am most certainly an Alpha like you are, father, and I will be the next in line to rule the pack!” Allen boasted.
Jacob was, of course, very disappointed, but not entirely disappointed. He knew very well that he was a klutz and he was trying hard to gain skills to make up for this unfortunate circumstance. Now, especially, with the harsh climate, he would need to work harder to prove himself. Sure he was similar to an Omega, but he was not similar to an Omega.
“Since we are speaking about Omegas, I had a bit of a proposal for you to inquire of them,” Bianca said. “This harsh dry climate makes fires a lot more likely to occur, so we’ll need to take effective preventive measures. Is it alright to ask the Omegas to clear the brush from the woods to make less fuel in case a fire is started? I believe we could reuse the brush as bedding or building materials depending on the texture of said brush.”
“My lovely and dearest Luna Bianca, you always have the best ideas! I will go tell the Omegas now of our plan to prevent fires by clearing the brush. You are more than welcome to come with me; bring the pups as well!” Bardolf said.
“Hey! Jacob volunteers to help with the forest clean up!” Allen announced suddenly, but not too suddenly as there was a brief moment of silence.
“What?! I said no such thing, Allen! Why would I want to help clear the forest?” Jacob asked.
“Because you’re an Omega!” Allen cried out and burst out laughing loudly, but not loudly.
Bardolf stopped mid step, his front left paw still in the air a little ways off of the ground. He turned his head and stared at the kids, still wondering where Allen may have picked up such rude behavior from. Then, a thought burst into his mind like a bubble or a balloon that was inflated way too much, except, you know, thoughts aren’t physical and can’t actually burst. Perhaps Jacob would make for a good captain of the clean up crew?
“I have an idea, Jacob, if you don’t mind my newest proposal. How would you like to be the captain of the clean up crew? This would mean all the Omegas must listen to you and you can tell them what to do? I believe this would be a good leadership exercise for you,” Bardolf stated, finally placing his paw back firmly on the ground.
“I mean…uh…well…what’s in it for me?” Jacob asked.
“Like I said, it is a leadership exercise, which means you will learn what it means to be a leader,” Bardolf restated.
“I suppose I could give it a try, father,” Jacob said.
“And what about me?! I don’t need training exercises because I’m already big and strong and-“ Allen began but got cut off by his father whacking him. “OW!”
“Bardolf! Don’t be so harsh towards my child, Allen! He’s just a pup, he doesn’t know better!” Bianca protested.
“Well, he said he was tough, so I gave it a test. He failed. He’s not tough,” Bardolf said.
“I AM TOUGH! RAR!” Allen cried out.
Allen ran and crashed into his father’s leg like a truck crashing into a deer, but not like a truck crashing into a deer because he was not a truck and his father was not a deer. Allen fell down with a groan of pain as he had hurt his nose in the impact. Bardolf stared at Allen for a moment and tossed his head with a grin. Allen would learn, one day, hopefully, that being a leader is more than just beating everyone up.
“You can follow Jacob as sub-captain if you wish, Allen. Or, perhaps, you would like to stay at the main hub and serve everyone else their lunch?” Bardolf suggested.
“What?! Those cannot possibly be my only two choices, father!” Allen objected.
“Take your pick, little one, or else I may suggest something even worse for you to do,” Bardolf said.
“Fine, I will be sub-captain, but I bet I could lead better than Jake can!” Allen said.
“My sons, do behave yourselves and don’t run into any trouble. If you see something that doesn’t look safe, run home and summon the Betas. They are the top warriors, as you know, my beloved sons,” Bianca said.
