Prologue
The twin brother's were as different as night and day, the sun and the moon. In every way possible one could be different, they were. Even at birth when their mother, Queen Lysael and the Mother of their race held them, she had commented on how different they were. She held them close and sang a song, tired as she may be. She sang of their unique differences. She sang of her son like the night with his blue black hair and beautiful ivory skin, so strong and still he would become. A protector. She sang of his brother that had come three minutes after him, of his light silvery white strands of hair and sun kissed skin, how he would bring laughter and mischief, happiness to her life.
She smiled up at her husband, King Aeyr and the Father of their race as he knelt next to her and looked deeply into her eyes. He was not one to smile but at this moment he did so at seeing the joy on his Queen's face. Even so tired, she remained a beauty beyond compare. Her silverlet hair fell in moonlit tendrils, framing a flushed face from having birthed the two children. His bright amber hues took in the sight of his son's, the heirs of the Kingdom of Daegonia. They would both receive instruction and tutors at the proper age. His eldest son more so since he would rule.
"What should we name them?" Lysael asked her husband as the maids stood back, seeming anxious to clean the infants. The maids had been of great assistance during her labor. She would have to reward them but right now she wanted to hold her children. The silver haired boy opened his eyes and Lysael grinned seeing the deep golden hues. As if on cue his older brother opened his eyes and she blinked in shock seeing the electric blue eyes that mirrored her own.
"You should give them their names." Aeyr murmured in his deep voice that almost rumbled. It was a trait of his race. He was, after all, full blooded Dragon. He had changed his form to that of an Elven male to be with her. Their two sons were the first of the new race of Dragon Elves. Aeyrs followers had changed their forms as well, all two hundred of them and found their mates among the clan of elves that Lysael ruled over. Lysael and Aeyr were the first to have children.
Lysael looked down at her boys and watched them thoughtfully. She looked at the black haired one and smiled, feeling his energy. He would be a great man. Strong and even stronger willed like his father. "Kohl." She whispered. She caressed his ivory cheek. "His name is Kohl." She turned her head to study the other, allowing his small hand to grip her finger, counting his tanned toes. She looked down into his pretty golden eyes that almost resembled his father's. She knew he would be hell on the ladies. He'd be defiant but kind and full of laughter. "And he is Aegyr. Aeyr...they are so beautiful. My beautiful sons…"
Though Lysael was a strong woman, birthing a dragon's children had tired her out. She smiled wearily and with reluctance passed her children on to the maids to be cleaned. She knew she would have to feed them soon so her nap would have to be quick. She fell into a deep slumber with her husband's hand in hers.
A day later, after Lysael had rested, all of the city had gathered to welcome the first Prince's of the land of Daegonia. Daegonia had no name before they came. When he met Lysael, she ruled over a clan of elven warriors. At first she had resisted but the pull towards him had been too great. She'd fallen hard for the handsome dragon male that had changed his form for HER. Soon his followers had settled, men and women and they'd begun building towns so that they could populate.
King Aeyr had many followers when he came upon this land but his best friends and most loyal stood at him and his wife's side as they presented the twin boys. King Aeyr's most loyal friend was Mikhai who stood at his right. The male stood six foot eight and had darker skin. His long black dreads fell down a warrior's back and he had bright amber hues like Aeyr. Many feared him for his looks. Only they didn't know what a softy the hulking male was.
Beside Mikhai stood the siblings, Mei and Misoh. They both had dark hair and pale skin, much like the eldest Prince but their eyes were bright amber and slanted. The amber eyes made the full blooded dragon's stand out amongst the elves. Standing beside Aeyr's wife was the twins Aegys and Arye. Arye was beautiful, despite the deep scar running down one cheek, and her fiery hair fell in waves down her back. She had pale golden hues. Her twin brother, Aegys, had pale yellow hues and a lighter shade of red hair that he braided down to the middle of his back. His attire was perfect and he prided himself on looking immaculate.
The people below the newly built castle praised the new Prince's of their land and cheered for the King and Queen. Once Lysael had decided to be with Aeyr, her clan had followed suit. She had told them this land would be great and would prosper. And the twins were the first proof of their great Kingdom that they would build. It may be in the beginning phases but they now had three other villages on the large island of Daegonia, and here where the castle stood was it's heart. The two Prince's were Daegonia's soul.
Lysael looked towards her husband and smiled. She held Aegyr and he held Kohl. She looked down at the people below them and then to their loyalists standing next to them. She could see the future, bright and full of possibilities. Many generations would pass by and Daegonia would remain great because they had made it so. "To the future." She whispered. And Aeyr's lips quirked. He had heard his wife and he whispered it back in her head.
'Our future.'
