Chapter 1
16 year old, Hazel Anderson woke up from young adults in her classroom laughing at her. She had fallen asleep in class. One of a teenagers worst high-school fear.
"May I go to the bathroom Mr. Garcia?" Hazel asked with a rather crispy voice with her head slightly pressed against the desk still.
"Go ahead," the teacher said with a sigh while Hazel was getting up. Barely being able to walk, she stepped out of her classroom and wobbled toward the girls bathroom-she thought. She stood in the middle of the bathroom for a second until she opened her eyes and found her crush, Andrew Wilkes, right in front of her, staring with a crumbled expression.
"Hazel! What are you doing here? Get out before you get in trouble!" Andrew said this time with a slight laugh. It had been atleast a minute and Hazel was thinking how this had to be the worst day in al her teenage years.
Trying to hide her shocked expression, Hazel was thinking of excuses for her being in the boys bathroom. "Oh! Just the person I was looking for!" She finally came up with, "I was wondering if you wanted to come to my birthday party."
"Wasn't your birthday last week?" Andrew said confused. Hazel could feel her heart beating fast until she finally said something.
"Oh. We decided to have my party a week after so we could get everything set up!"
"I was just at your house yesterday. Why didn't your mom say anything?" Andrew said.
"It was kind of a suprise," Hazel lied. Andrew nodded his head and pointed toward the mirror with a smile on his face. Hazel could tell he was trying not to laugh. Hazel walked over to the mirror and looked at her silky brown hair covering her green eyes as if she had bangs. The ends of her hair were really frizzy and it couldn't help but make Andrew laugh even harder when seeing Hazel's reaction. She let out a little when she saw herslef.
"Oh god!" Hazel said. "I'm gonna be late for next period! I'll see you at the party?" Hazel said running out into the hallway.
"Yeah," Andrew had to shout since she was halfway down the halway. Andrew laughed thinking about how cute Hazel could be, but he knew he couldn't date her. They had been best friends 5th grade and know he was just starting his juinor year in high school, he didn't want to lose their friendship. He wasn't even sure if Hazel even liked him back.
When Andrew was done thinking about Hazel, he continued fixing his golden brown hair so that he wouldn't look homeless for his Tennis pictures. He couldn't be late either, he was captain afterall, so he had to finish up quickly. When he was done with his hair, he put on his uniform and raced out to the gym.
Hazel was charging down the hallway picking up her bookbag from her former class. She finally stopped to catch her breath when she heard the bell ring. A few seconds later, students stepped out their classrooms for 5th period.
She looked around the hallway for one friends, Alicia so they could walk to Science class together. Finally, she spotted Alicia talking to her boyfriend, Eric.
"Hey." Hazel said. "Can I talk to you?" Alicia stepped aside and waved to her boyfriend. Hazel started walking with Alicia to their next class and started telling her about how she lied to Andrew.
"So? Alicia finally said.
"Soooooo. I need you to help me set up a birthday party!" Hazel replied. It took a lot of convincing, but Alicia finally agreed and that's all they could talk about the whole day.
When Hazel finally got home, the first thing she did was ask her mom if they could have a party. Her mom looked at her and said yes-suprisingly.
"Wait. Actually?" Hazel said "Why?"
"We're moving, Honey." Her mom finally let out. "We were gonna have a party anyways. I already told your brother."
"No! Why. Why are we moving? I can't just leave everyone behind! What about Alicia and Andrew?" Hazel said angerly.
"I can't tell you." Hazel's mom said calmly trying to make it rub off on her daughter. Hazel didn't say anything else. She just ran upstairs and started calling the group chat with Andrew and Alicia. They both answered quickly and Hazel started telling them about the whole situation trying not to let her lie that she told Andrew slip out.
"Are you serious?" Andrew said. You can't just leave us and your home behind. Alicia nodded her head signaling she agreed.
"I know. And she won't even tell me why. But, I know I can't change her mind. So, I might as well leave it alone. Hazel said annoyed. "We're leaving Saturday. In two days. All the way to Frankfurt." Hazel rolled her eyes. "But anyways. You wanna talk about the decorations and all?"
They both nodded knowing that Hazel was just trying to get her mind off of it and started talking about decorations, they made a playlist and made little invitations until it was time for the party.
