Consciousness
Everything felt as if time froze. I couldn’t feel anything anymore. All I could hear was the rustling of the wind pounding against my bedroom window. My consciousness began slipping away from me. My eyes shut slowly, ready to rest.
Memories played throughout my head constantly until I shot up waking from my slumber. I remember everything that had occurred before I passed out. I press on the side of my head to feel an enormous wound. I looked at my hand to see it covered in that warm, bright red liquid. All of a sudden I could feel a painful migraine. Even though all this pain is finally getting to me, I push through it and stand up. Despite my efforts, I fell to the nearest wall. I use the wall as leverage to help gain my grounds yet again.
“Why after how hard I try, it always ends like this?” I mumble to myself.
I let out a great sigh and walked towards my bedroom door.
“It seems to be quiet in the house, hopefully they left.”
I cautiously made my way to the nearest bathroom. I arrived and quickly locked the door behind me. I place my hands on the counter leaning towards the mirror staring at my own eyes. I have a bruise on my left eye and strangle marks across my throat.
“How lovely. I do believe this is his best work yet,” I remarked.
Slowly but surely, I begin to clean the enormous wound upon the side of my head.
“I don’t know how much longer I can live like this.”
I finally finish up and take a deep breath before I exit. I unlocked the door to find no one on the other side.
“I’m not sure if it’s even fear that I feel anymore. Could it be anger or am I just numb?”
