The Letter

I was drawing my picture of some random kid, when an owl showed up in my window with a letter in its mouth. “Whoa..cool.” I said, getting up and taking the letter. “It flew away but I was more focused on the letter given to me.

I heard my adoptive mom at the door, she came in with a frown. “Ivan, we need to tell you something.” She started. I hid the letter behind my back, “Yeah mom.” I smiled.

“You know you’re adopted right?” She asked like I didn’t know that I was. “Yeah mom I know.” I smiled, looking confused. “And you’re thirteen right…” She asked.

I could sense fear coming from her for some reason, I always felt other people’s emotions. I never knew why I did, I just did. It was like a feeling of a sound signal, I never dug into it though.

What was she so afraid of? She had nothing to hide from me.

Or did she….

She sat down ....”You’re a wizard,” She looked me dead in the eye when she told me. I burst out laughing, I was laughing so hard I dropped the letter. She noticed and fear struck her face. She quickly snatched it and read it. I stopped laughing and sat down by her. “An owl dropped it off. I think it’s for me though.” I said. She looked at me again, this time with seriousness. “Ivy.” She said to me, “Ivy?! Who in the world is Ivy!” I exclaimed.

She ended up explaining everything to me, about my parents and me being the Bureau. The most powerfulest family of witches and wizards, all given two special abilities when born and must be trained to control. I sat and listened but I had a surprised look on my face.

I was a witch, and she also told me about Voldermote who was after Harry Potter who was a fourth year. I was supposed to be in my third year but my parents’ date to deliver the letter was off.

I packed my things, it was September the first.

I walked down the stairs, I started questioning everything my mom had said to me in the past.

How I was born in japan but I’m not native to that country, how sometimes bits of my hair turn cherry blossom pink even though my hair is curly black.

We got in the car as we drove to the train station, I was nervous. Being a 3rd year meant I missed out on some magic, which was really weird. Magic? Magic was real, and I was a part of it! You’d expect me to be a little bit happy, but what’s so happy about knowing half your life has been a lie. Where you came from, who your parents were. It’s a lot to take in.

I pulled out my phone as I went through all the photos we had together, thinking. Was any of it true? What she said about my parents dying from a serious sickness? Sure they could have died a more Magestical Death.

When we arrived at the station, I saw some kids ahead who looked my age and up. I was scared. They quickly went through some pillars and vanished. We got all my luggage and walked up to the pillar, “I’m going to miss you!” My mother hugged. She broke the hug and looked deep into my eyes. “You call me okay!” She said, doing a calling impression. She then gave me a box with a widow tree on it. “Your parents told me to give this to you on your first day, well…..” She handed me the box but stopped me from opening it. “Don’t! Open it now. Wait until you get on the train.” She said as she backed up, blowing me a kiss. I smiled as I turned around and quickly ran through the pillar.

When I ran through, I saw some of the last kids getting on. I quickly ran in line after the last. I climbed on to see kids talking and laughing and showing their magic.

I walked awkwardly down the aisle, kids staring at me but giggling. I tightened the grip around my gucci bag and I sprinted to one of the rooms. I quickly shut the door as I realized a boy and girl were in with me. I looked at them as they looked at me with blanked faces. “Uhh….” I stuttered. “I’ll just leave,” I say, but right as I begin to leave the boy speaks. “You can stay,” he says kindly. I turn around slowly and quickly sit by him bringing out my phone.

Dont.

Act.

Weird.

I could tell they were staring at me, I really wasn’t good with new people. Especially, magic people. “Um ....I’m Unique! Unique Kastle, overhear beside you. He’s Qi. Qishu Henry. He’s a full blood wizard.” Unique said. “And you are?” She asked. I looked up with the most calm face ever even though inside I was panicking like a cat in water. “Ivy Bureau.” I smile, as the girl’s smile turns to a frown. “Stop lying! Those were my tutors! My family! Their son died with them!” She shouted. As I flinched with fear. “I-I’m not lying! I swear! I just found out I’m a full blood wizard when they died, they managed to save me with. H-u-m-a-n technology.” I saw as I grabbed my duffel bag. “Sorry…..I knew you’d hate me…” I say as I begin to leave, but the girl grabs my hand. “No! Just…Prove it…Then I might believe you.” She said, then I remembered. The small circular box my mom gave me. I quickly pulled it out from my duffel bag, and showed it to Unique. She then took it and examined it, “why do you have the symbol of Widow?” She asked. “It means different now but it means mystic cry.” She said, as she tried to open it. “The cry is just tears of the memories of your lost loved ones.” She said handing it back after a few failed attempts to open it. I take it back and I open it with no effort. Then………
