Woke Up Thirsty
At a little distance from the busiest street, a beautiful girl with long dark hair, and dark eyes, sleeping as if fainted, with her legs far away from each other, one of her elbows higher than her head resting on the pillow, meanwhile her head not completely on the pillow and slightly bent to her left.
The sound of a honk uncomforted her, a honk loud enough to make her head hurt.
She woke up with a small yet deep gasp, not knowing where she was and how she got here, her head spinning and hurting, her beautiful long eyelashes carrying the burden of her heavy eyelids, while her eyes struggling to see clearer despite her blurred vision, and red eyeballs.
She stood up just to collapse down on the ground again, holding her head and moaning.
âAm I drunk?â She reached out to a dressing table nearby and forced herself off the ground when her eyes fell on her reflection, What she saw was herself but her clothes soaked up in blood, from her lower lip to her chin and then neck, it was all red.
She yanked back gasping, and thatâs when she realized her throat was dry as a bone, She held her throat when she felt her heart pounding harder than ever, she slid her hand down toward her chest and applied pressure.
âWhat is wrong with me?â She turned around and the sunlight made her squint, she tried blocking the sunlight using her hand and a loud noise again made her hold her ears âAh!â She closed her eyes, not knowing someone opened the door.
âOh no!â She heard a whisper, and then she felt the light turning low, she opened her eyes and saw someone was pulling the curtains down.
When he turned around she saw it was a young man, his beautiful dark eyes were sparkling under what little bit of light they had left in the room, his wide chest and strong muscles were barely holding his gray shirt together, his messed up hair fallen on his forehead, his sharp jaws and nose were the most attractive part on his entire face.
Suddenly there was no headache, head spinning, or dry throat anymore, what they had was an eye contact, and the eye contact continued, without blinking until his face started blurring âHeyâ She heard his voice, disappearing somewhere in the echoes of her own heartbeat, his face darkened and darkened until it disappeared.
A few moments later, she opened her eyes and found herself in his arms, he was helping her lie down on the bed.
She caught her senses, and looked him in his eyes âDid you kidnap me?â She blurted, her eyes widened with fear.
âWhat? No!â He backed off.
âIâŠâ He was going to say something but he stood up.
âYou what?â Her gaze was stuck at him, waiting for answers.
âI am sorry, whatever you are going through is all because of me, and I am so sorry about that!â He wasnât looking in her eyes.
âI donât understandâ As soon as she said that she remembered the accident, she gasped with fear again âWait! How am I alive after that horrible accident?â She stood up, she was feeling better than before.
âYou arenât!â He combed back his hair with his fingers and faced her âThis is what Iâve been trying to tell you, you are not alive!â He held her by her shoulders and finally looked her in her eyes.
His eyes were expressing the sensitivity of the matter, his tensed eyebrows were the proof that he was telling the truth.
âBut how can it be possible? If I am not alive how am I here? Standing? Breathing?â She thought as she held her chest âI can feel my heart! I can feel the pain! I feel everything I used to feel before!â She argued.
âAre you really feeling everything you used to feel till yesterday?â He asked.
She remembered how her head was hurting and how sunlight was hurting her but then she found an answer for that too âWhatever was happening earlier was because of the accident!â She thought for a second then started laughing helplessly âOh!â she was laughing still.
âAre you alright?â He asked with confusion.
âOkay okay!â She coughed and took a deep breath, âIt was a good prank, and you got me!â She was standing while holding her arms.
âAre you out of your mind?â He stared into her eyes and held her by her shoulders âDonât you remember you got in front of my car? You were dying so I had toâŠâ He stopped from saying anything further and turned his face away from her.
âYou had to what?â She stepped in front of him again.
âI had to heal you by feeding you my blood, but it was too late, you were already dead!â He closed his eyes âYou came back to life as a vampire!â He added.
âSo now heâs not just a kidnapper but a mentally sick person!â She thought.
âI didnât kidnap you I said!â He turned back again.
She was startled, âWhen did I say you did?â She clung to the wall behind her.
âYou thought! âSo now he is not just a kidnapper but a mentally sick person!â Werenât those your exact words?â He brought his face so close to her that she could feel his breath on her face, he was staring straight into her eyes, without blinking.
âOkay, okay!â She bent herself and escaped him.
She stood in front of him as he turned around âI understand that you are telling me the truth, she looked down, but at least give me some time to accept it, give me a few seconds to process what I just found out, give me some decent clothes these blood stains are frightening me.â She looked down at her clothes.
âOf course! Wait a secondâ He quickly opened the wardrobe and slid the clothes hanging on the hangers âThis is my friendâs house, and his sisterâs clothes are in this, you can wear whatever suits you!â He stepped back.
âAnd thatâs the bathroom you can clean yourself, you are completely soaked up in blood!â He got to the door âI will leave you to itâ He said and left the room, closing the door behind him.
Now she had 30 minutes to do everything she could, She took off her shirt and cleansed the blood on her stomach, realizing she got struck by the car and how badly her belly was wounded, She wiped off the blood and changed her clothes as fast as she could.
After she was done she decided to jump out the window, it was not so high from the ground so she easily jumped down, without making any sound, it was a narrow lane going on both ways, luckily there was no one, either she had to go to the left of to her right, she didnât have much time, so she took the right path.
She was stealthy but her gasp after reaching the ground had already reached his ears, he got to the room and found the door locked. He struck the knob with his hand and it broke open the door, he looked inside the bathroom but she was nowhere to be found.
She didnât realize it when she reached a service road with crazy traffic, but when she did realize, she regretted coming here, her ears were exploding with so much noise.
She hid her head under the hoodie and approached a building nearby, Her throat was drying up again, and her heartbeat was rising higher and higher until she realized it was not her own heart, When the sound of the heartbeat faded away she heard a woman calling out to her.
âExcuse me? Are you alright?â She held the girl by her arm gently and asked again.
But the girlâs eyes fell on the womanâs neck, she could even see the blood flow on the womanâs neck, she couldnât understand what was happening to her, but she opened her mouth and looked the woman in her eyes, she was breathing heavily, she opened her mouth and hissed.
The woman got frightened when she noticed her eyes turning dark and her fangs slicing their way through her gums.
The woman backed off but the girl held her wrist tightly, she had lost all her control over herself.
There were people there, it was a busy road, but it didnât matter to her, she reached out to the womanâs neck, but before anyone could notice anything a hand pulled her away.
The girl turned around with anger to find the same guy standing in front of her, All her anger and rage disappeared the second her eyes met with his.
He held the woman who was about to sneak away, he looked her in her eyes and whispered âYou didnât see anything, you were just going through the street, you helped a sick woman and now you are going back to work!â He said.
The woman slowly turned around like a puppet, with a wide smile on her face, The girl was watching her leave, then she followed the young man back to the same house she left, without any questions at all but using the main door this time.
He led her to the bedroom she woke up in because this was where she wanted to be.
He kept staring at her as she sat in the corner of the bed, She cuddled her knees and a flood of tears started raining down her cheeks.
âI am sorry!â He closed his eyes with pain.
âOh, you are sorry?â She stared at him, her voice trembling helplessly âYou ruined my life forever and now you are sorry?â She stood up and approached him.
âI have a family!â She pushed him by his chest, and he struck his back against the door, but he stood straight, not complaining just raising his hands as if he surrendered.
âI have a damn family!â She yelled and held his collar, and broke down into tears burying her face in his chest, She cried until she fainted.
