Chapter 1
Ethan
Soft taps on my bedroom window were always ones I waited to hear. Sometimes it was every night, other times it was every other night. But each time it never failed to be her on the other side of the glass.
Ripely always had a wide grin when I pulled my curtains back. She had a way to climb up the 2nd story of my bedroom without ever being noticed or heard. It was always easy to sneak her in. Seeing her was always the best part of my day, she knew this. Sometimes we’d wait till my parents were out late or asleep to climb further up into the attic through my closet to watch movies. It was our best kept secret, our personal haven.
I’ve know Ripley since she was 7 we had been in every single class together since then. She was my best friend even then, only because I loved her name so much. She told me her mother loved the movie Alien and named her after a badass hero. I thought she was amazing.
But all it took was one look from my parents to see their disappointment and disgust at my best friend. Ripley Moore came from nothing, her parents poor as can be and left to their vices while Ripley practically raised herself in the south side of town. When we reached high school, some teachers loved her so much they sponsored her to come to St.Paul’s Private school. She and I couldn’t have been more happier to be stuck together again.
But like all adolescents, we soon found our groups that separated us. I found my place with the jocks, no shock there when your father owns more than half of the resorts int he state and across into the east coast. It gained me a title as prince of the school. Ripley on the other hand was sought out by the assholes right away. I tried to defend her, fighting anyone who looked her way till it became too exhausting to babysit her. She didn’t need me, she always was so angry when I defended her. Causing more fights. It caused her nights to see me to become scarce, and soon I didn’t even wonder if she was coming at all.
At school we would only glance at each other, pretending the other doesn’t exist till it was almost unbearable. I was close to caving and running to her to beg her to talk to me again, but She had beat me to it. Tapping on my window with urgency. She had ran from home showing up with a busted lip and a bruised face. Her eyes puffy and her demeanor withdrawn. I remember she only said one thing to me before tearing off her clothes and putting on some of mine and crawling into my bed.
“I didn’t know where else to go.”
My heart shattered, the beatings were visible enough, though I begged her before to let me get her help she once said she didn’t want to be taken and separated from me. So I relented. That night I held her close in bed with me, and I think the closeness and pent up longing had us both bursting at the seems. That was also the night we lost our virginity to each other. We had kissed before, but only as practice considering neither of us had any experience.
I remember her smile at me when I asked her if we could try again not feeling like my performance was that awe inspiring. I was a nervous wreck, I knew I loved this girl but I couldn’t admit it, not even to myself then. She seemed more excited about it, but then made a request. To my surprise she wanted it to stay a secret. I didn’t have any arguments there. My parents practically jumped for joy when they noticed we hadn’t been as close, and my friends…they would’ve never understood. She was …trash to them. Charity. They disgusted me with their view of her, but I couldn’t change them. That’s how we were all raised to see the world us vs. them.
The more we explored each other, finding what we liked what we didn’t like was well- for an adolescent young man- was mind blowing. I remember she liked painful things, rough things, I was in a mix of just loving anything she wanted to do with me. We went at it for years, two exact, training each other in our needs, it was heaven, till it came collapsing beneath us. We got into different colleges. Mine, up state at the university my father was a proud alumni, hers community downtown.
The reality of distance, and goals in life were like buckets of ice water on our heads. Day of graduation we went radio silent on each other. This time I didn’t have longing, this time I was offended of the thought of stopping my life and future for her, she never asked that of me but I think at the time I was so angry at her giving up on “us” I let my parents words seep into my mind.
The last night I saw her was the night before I left. Two months of summer had passed and My parents went ahead up state to stay at one of our hotels and were going to meet me for lunch before going to campus. My dad had never been more excited for me to join his “brotherhood” like he had when he was my age. It was really an over zealous frat house with the richest kids in the east coast. I didnt want to admit to him id be fucking miserable because id be thinking about Ripley too much.
She came tapping on my window, drunk off her ass, practically stumbling through the bedroom. I remember she was dressed in tshirt dress that dropped to her knees with fishnets peeking between her knee high boots and the hem of her dress. Her makeup was done heavy illuminating her cream skin and hazel eyes and her obsidian hair tangled in a bandanna that tied like a bow at the top. God I felt my dick twitch at every step she took to and away from me. My body was practically trained to want her.
I think she felt it as well. She told me it was her goodbye present before I went off to run the world with out her. It hurt but I pushed my need for her first. We tainted every surface of that house for hours. Only to slowly drift asleep in each others arms at the crack of dawn.
“I knew it would be hard to let you go, but I needed this.” She mumbled in her sleeping state when she thought I drifted off as well. Awaking after a few hours I found she had left me wrapped in my sheets, cleaning up our evidence of the night before, and left me two things. A note, and her boots. Her favorites boots.
Enjoy the forbidden fruits out there Ethan. Never let them hold you back. Go kick some ass.
-Ripley
I tried calling her, even driving by her parents run down shack of a house. Nothing. I left with a heavy heart, and yearning for her again. But there was no stopping the track my train was speeding on. I left home and didn’t bother to look back, knowing Ripley would just shut me out again.
